As shared by the game's official Twitter account and website, the closed technical test period will kick off on October 29 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The purpose of the test will be to "balance characters, stress servers, squash bugs, and test the online infrastructure."

Testers will also be expected to agree to the game's non-disclosure agreement, which includes restrictions on capture of gameplay footage, live streaming, the sharing of images, and publicly discussing the technical test online.

For those who wish to sign up for the closed technical test on the PC, these are the recommended hardware specifications:

  • OS: Windows 7 x64-Bit or Later
  • Processor: Intel Core2 Extreme CPU Q6850/ AMD A8-3870k (Quad Core CPU’s)
  • Memory: 6 GB
  • Hard Disk Space: 10 GB free
  • Video Memory: 2 GB
  • Video Card: AMD HD 7700/ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or better, PhysX support
  • Sound: DirectX 11 Compliant

An open beta for Battleborn will be held at a later date, although there have been no announcements on when we can expect to see it. The game will have over 25 playable characters; more than Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel combined. Heroes will have ten levels and gain two skills per level.

The Battleborn release date is set for February 9 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game's story mode will be playable solo, and will offer the option of split-screen and online co-op. The game will also have a competitive multiplayer mode where teams of five can go head-to-head. The experience and items you earned in-game will carry through with players, regardless of the chosen mode.
