Steam is not the way to go considering the people who can't get a decent internet connection, it is quite annoying how there is no care for these people and that they have to miss out, why can't they just make the retail version without steam for once.

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade.

I hope that you can play split screen and online at the same time. Either though liked the original and looking forward to this one as well.

please please please allow vertical split screen like the original, horizontal split is horrible.

Cool - Steam is the way to go - Gamespy and Origan are as useful as a chocolate tea pot.

@Karenwen I play all my PC games with a 360 controller. So I guess I don't really notice UI or control problems when I'm playing. People said Skyrim wasn't very mouse and keyboard friendly either. But once again, I didn't have any troubles with that.

Awesome! No more crappy Gamespy :D

I'm a 360 Borderlands fan - but have to give them huge kudos for the Steamworks move. Very cool!

@parrot_of_adun Cross platform play would be a good idea, after all PS3 does have Steamworks on it.

parrot_of_adun

This would be much better news if the game had cross-platform co-op, but that's never going to happen outside a valve title...

Gamespy was responsible for all the problems of the first game. I'm glad they fixed that.

@Shin_Gallon "Steam: What Xbox Live only *wishes* it were." Could you elaborate on this statement, please. It really doesn't make much sense.

Every PC game should use Steamworks. It works great and improves the games.

@Caboose_1989 I wish that was the case, but the PC version of Syndicate was $60 dollars with no credit, and the console versions were $60 dollars with a $20 dollar credit. Still, I can't wait for this game to come out. Still playing the original in SP. 225 hours and counting.

i seem to recall randy pitchford saying that he thought that steam was bad not too long after borderlands 1 released...

@comb5 Borderlands for PC wasn't very PC centric I'm afraid, and graphics aren't a factor here. If anything, the game was designed with PC at the back of its mind. As fun as Borderlands is, you know things are screwed up badly when you have to go edit an .ini file in order for you to get your sensitivity down to a playable rate.

@mjc0961 The original Borderlands was designed with PC in mind. It was far from a port. Once you turned all the settings on max it looked way better than it's console counterparts.

@jamyskis I understand the fact that you don't like Steam. But are you honestly willing to say that you would rather have the multiplayer of Borderlands 2 be ran through Gamespy again?

Now, of course I'm going to get thumbed down en masse by all the hammer legion fanboys out there, but I have to say it. It looks like it's going to be no Borderlands 2 for me if I'm going to have Steam forced down my throat. I've been using that junk platform for the past five years and I've finally lost all patience with it. In fact, with Steam being so pervasive in the market these days, I hardly buy anything for the PC these days except the odd indie title.

UGH another game that shoves useless 3rd party crap down your throat! fk steamworks and fk origin

I came. Then wept, since that's the first time I've seen this late release date. Then I called my girlfriend, and the same thing happened with her.

@vicsrealms It's coming out in september, chillax. Steam doesn't add games to the pre-order option till it's only a few months away.

SerOlmy
SerOlmy

Thank goodness. The Gamespy match-making on the original was really holding the game back. For the first few months you litterally had the port-forward just to join or have someone join your MP match. Bordelands was a great game, I have well over 100 hours played, if match-making and cloud saves are being done through Steamworks on Borderlands 2 then I'll buy it Day 1 (I might even pre-order it).

nu1mlock
nu1mlock

Pretty obvious seeing they patched Borderlands (1) to take advantage of a few features that Steamworks offers (like cloud saving).

It would of been nice to use steamworks with the PS3 version. After the hacking, Valve hasn't said a peep about the PS3 or for other companies to use PS3 steamworks for their own game.

but...you can't preorder borderlands 2 on steam lol

This just upgraded from a "just below my radar" to "very highly anticipated" title. Just an all around excellent decision and should help resolve one of the most glaring issues regarding the PC version. Very very good news!

So it will somehow have have achievements for steam and OnLive at the same time, that will be interesting.

Thank god. As long as their not using Gamespy. Kinda wish it wasn't a requirement but it's still 100 times better than Gamespy

Caboose_1989

@vicsrealms well dude thats because the game is 50 bucks anyways for the pc. thats my guess why they didnt do it.

vicsrealms

Ok?....So, when is Borderlands 2 going to popup on Steam? I'm still trying to decide where to pre-order it since Amazon decided that PC users aren't worthy of the $10 credit they offered console gamers.
