Borderlands 2 opens up September 18

2K Games details preorder bonuses for Gearbox's latest postapocalyptic shooter/RPG hybrid; new trailer inside.

Take-Two has had its fair share of problems getting games out the door, but it appears as if the Gearbox-developed Borderlands 2 won't have that problem. Today, 2K Games confirmed Borderlands 2 will arrive within its projected 2012 window, having scheduled the game on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for September 18 in the United States and for September 21 in the UK.

Guns will, of course, factor heavily into Borderlands 2's preorder bonuses.

Along with debuting a new sizzle reel for the game (below), 2K Games outlined Borderlands 2's preorder bonuses. In-game items are the theme of the preorder pack, with the publisher promising access to the Gearbox gunpack, which includes a handful of starter golden guns, as well as a golden key that can be used to unlock a special chest in the city of Sanctuary.

Lastly, the pack includes the Vault Hunter's Relic, which impacts gamers' loot-finding capabilities. Those interested in picking up the aforementioned bonuses with their preorders can do so through the game's official website or at certain retailers.

of course we have to wait 8 months still, i hate how they announce a game and then we have to wait like over a year, they should make a trailer like 7-8 months before release and that should be the first we here of the game, i hate waiting so long.

Day 1 purchase for me. Split-screen co-op in Borderlands was one of the most fun gaming experiences I've ever had.

This game looks great and the pre-order bonuses seem to be actually useful so seeing as how much I loved the original I'll definitely be pre-ordering this one. anyone who wants to play some Borderlands add me my PSN is the same as my gamespot profile

Love the first game, played multiple times. have yet to beat cramerax.... but the only thing is that it looks more like the same. :( this could have been dlc's if you ask me. Plus there is no point of getting pre bonuses because even if you get these things not too far down in the game you would get items that are more powerful...so that is pointless unless these weapons-things do something very specific that nothing else in the game does like unlock a hidden level of thing after a while...but i don't see this happening... not a very good incentive if you ask me...still i ll buy this because of the fun factor of this game! cant wait!

Can't wait for this one! I just hope the second playthrough isn't as easy like in the first one tho.

Why is dubstep so popular exactly? I don't see what is so great about it other than it is easy to annoy people by playing it.

Can't wait, I played the hell out of the original, and this one looks ten times more badass. It is a shame that my preferred class(hunter) got the boot, but that Zero character looks to be just as fun, if not more so.

The first Borderlands was one of the few FPS I really considered worth having ('cause, you know, the majority you can just play at your friends' house when you've got nothing better to do)...really looking foward to this one.

I like how they are self-aware in their use of terrible dubstep. They know that s*** is only enjoyable in an ironic sense,

Just played the first one recently and really liked it. Glad I got into it late as I picked up the GOTY edition for a cheap price, but I highly doubt I'll be able to wait that long for this one.

Is there a list of these "certain retailers" mentioned? Gotta think its the usual suspects: GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy. That would mean no incentive to purchase from NewEgg or ToysRUs, which have been having great pre-order sales of late. If we're not buying from GameStop, Amazon, or Best Buy to get their respective pre-order bonuses, is there any reason *NOT* to just wait a few months and pick it up used? (Other than supporting the hard-working developers, I mean.)

@prince__vlad You just made me sign in to prove you wrongSure, a game needs so high end graphics to be a good game, but just because it doesnt have REALISTIC graphics, doesnt make it a bad game.Lets look at Skyrim for example.Skyrim had originally started of as art sketches that seemed to have no life at all, no visual effects to make it seem real. Then the art managers decided that since the game revolves around you and only you, there should be realistic graphics. On the other hand, Borderlands 2 has made it quite visible that their style of art choice is no accident, but stupid people like you cant see through the concept art graphics. You should never judge a game by its graphics. Without good GAMEPLAY, and a STORYLINE that captivates you, with an ONLINE COMMUNITY, and a WIDE VARIETY OF EVERYTHING, a game cannot be good. Lets take LAIR for exampleOverall, LAIR was a shitty game, with no real motive but to show off some graphics. This was a visually appealing game which drew in a lot of attention, and the factor that killed this game was its GAMEPLAY. If you have no sense of great GAMEPLAY, then you HAVE NO GAME. Simple as that. All in all, I expect Borderlands 2 to be quite a magnificent game, all round, especially graphic wise, because if you look at what they have done to the concept art, and how they made it vibrant an stand out, you would be amazed. Another thing is the online community. This game is based around its only community, which adds the 4 player story line, and ever so draws more people in to play the game, not to say that they dont have a strong single player campaign to back onto. The story line is revolving around your own choices and what you become of yourself. So please, do not judge a game by its graphics.
