Acclaim Entertainment has today announced that it will publish Worms 3D for the PC and all current-generation consoles in North America next month. The turn-based multiplayer action strategy game, which was developed by UK-based Team 17, was published in Europe last year by Sega Europe.

"Worms 3D illustrates how proven brands can evolve over time and reap the benefits from the latest hardware platforms," said Rod Cousens, chief executive officer at Acclaim. "We're pleased to be working with Team 17 on this title, as well as its soon-to-be-announced title, which will launch in the fall of 2004."

Worms 3D sees players pitting squads of well-armed worms against each other in completely destructible 3D environments. Weapons and gadgets in a typical worm's arsenal include ninja ropes, jetpacks, shotguns, bazookas, and exploding sheep. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
