Even to a baseball fanatic I can't recommend this sim, which is a real letdown from Acclaim's previous titles.

All-Star Baseball 2002 Too bad the actual baseball game is over before this one Graphics (12.5%) - 7.5 Controls (15%) - 7.5 Variety (25%) - 5 Replay (25%) - 5 Sound (7.5%) - 6 Depth (15%) - 6 OVERALL - 5.91 Graphics - 7.5 The character models and animations are fairly high quality, but everything is so dark, it actually detracts from the experience. Controls - 7.5 The same style is back in the first GameCube installation of the ASB series, and they translate midly well. The new triangular cursor doesn't seem particularly effective, and it's still much easier to just hit using nothing but the power swing. Variety - 5 All-Star Baseball 2000 for the N64 was my favourite baseball game ever because although I got too good at it, there were so many modes of play I could sculpt it so that I could keep playing. All those options have been lost in what can only be described as a rushed game. There is nothing special with the batting practice hardly worthwhile and the "legends" being few and lacking in the biggest legends. No draft for the season and no shorter season option is a real letdown. Replay - 5 The lackluster variety coupled with only a fair translation of the excellent controls of the N64 game makes for a baseball game feels more like going to see the Tigers on their 119 loss season. Sound - 6 There's nothing exciting about the crowds and the announcers are less-than-stellar. Depth - 6 With basically only straight-forward baseball with the preset rosters and a mediochre create-a-player, the depth is lacking. Overall - 5.91 Even to a baseball fanatic I can't recommend this sim, which is a real letdown from Acclaim's previous titles.
