I guess it is hard to make a decent alien game

User Rating: 4 | Aliens: Colonial Marines X360
If Aliens: Colonial Marines wasn't called Aliens you probably would not pay any attention to it. When it was first annouced, it looked like it had potential and was said it fill in the blanks between Aliens and Alien 3. But unfortunately, it falls short. The story is uninteresting with characters who will probably never care about with their stiff facial expressions. But the big surprise is the way the game plays. With the exception of a great stealth section in the game, the game adds no tension and plays like a railshooter. Enemies just stand around and will sometimes walk right in front of you and allow you to kill them. This takes most of the challenge away and makes the extra weapons in the game seem useless. The visuals are dated and level designs are tedious. The campaign lacks variety and your pretty much going down the same kind of hallway, killing enemies and then doing the same thing over and over again. Luckily, the game can be beated in 6 hours on Normal Difficulty. You can play up to 4 with coop but some of the levels are not meant to be played with multiple players and it often feels crowded. The multiplayer is dull even with the except of playing as the xenos. Controls are tough to get used to and playing as the marines is always the best way. Survivor mode has some high notes. It's basically a left 4 dead knock off with only 2 maps though. What makes me mad about this game is, the creators had everything to make this the best Aliens game ever, but decided to play it safe and fell short. 4/10
