The latest entry in the Ace Combat series offers solid aerial combat, fast dogfight sequences, and real-world locations.

User Rating: 9 | Ace Combat: Assault Horizon X360
Graphics: 10/10 The game's visuals are very solid and well done. The landscapes are detailed and generally look good. The animation during the cutscenes isn't too bad, either. The explosions are well done, as well. The game is quite cinematic.

Sound: 10/10 The sound effects, music, and radio chatter are very standard for an Ace Combat game. It does a good job of immersing you as a fighter pilot.

Control: 8/10 The control is everything you'd expect from a flying game You get two options for control of your fighter-- Optimized and Original. Original requires you to roll your aircraft in order to turn effectively, while Optimized doesn't. My only complaint here is that the helicopter flight controls could have been more intuitive and tighter. The aiming during chopper combat is a pain. The "gunner" controls on a helicopter minigun and AC-130 are well done.

Content: 8/10 The only major gripe I have with this game is that Target Leads are very difficult to shoot down without engaging Dogfight Mode. It shouldn't have been this way-- you should have a choice of either engaging DFM or shooting down the Target Lead the usual way (with the same difficulty level as DFM). On the flip side, DFM adds a cinematic element to dogfights. The addition of helicopter flight and gunner duty adds to the experience of the entire game.
