Even if you like the anime, this isn't one that is worth your cash or time.

User Rating: 5.8 | Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament PS2
As with most TV-show video games, Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament is a game that simply tries to ride on the name alone.
Gameplay/Story: The storyline is exactly the same as the anime's with no real side-stories. This a good thing as it does give fan's a nostalgic feeling that gives players a reason to at least finish the game.
One of the great parts about YYH:DT is that you can play as anyone from the Dark Tournament story arc. This gives a lot of different choices. But from there, the good things end. The fights are not that exciting and end extremely fast. A normal 3 round fight can easily last under a minute. This doesn't give very much time for an interesting fight. Also, this takes away any wish to use your characters special moves because if you pull them off, you don't get any time to really fight. The different modes include a story mode where you play through the Dark Tournament story from beginning to end with Team Urameshi. You also get a free battle mode, training mode and versus mode. The training mode has a free training where you can practice on your own, or a step-by-step tutorial on how to fight with any character. Finally, to try and make the game a little more unique, they threw in a weird card game like, battle system which allows you to use characters from the game to try and win more tokens. This game is not very interesting at all but gives a little more motivation to play it a little more as it's kind of fun to try and collect all the tokens. The battle game itself is pretty boring though.
Graphics: The anime styled graphics are pretty well done but aren't anything spectacular by any means. The characters look like they should and nothing more.
Sound: The sound is one of my favorite parts of the show since you get to hear all the voice-overs from the show. They are english-only but since the casting is perfect and is debatably the best english dubs for any anime out there, this is perfect.
Overall: Well, if you buy your games for the graphics and sound then perfect! here's a great game for you. But if you're like most gamers who actually like playing the games, stay away from Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament, fan or not.
