The game's story is its only saving grace. However the combat mechanics are definitely aged out, and most certainly from a time that equated challenge with repetitive grinding. The controls are unresponsive and dictated by the timing not of the plater, but of their opponent. This means that the goons you fight are too easy unless they're swarming, and the bosses are overpowered to an Nth degree (say goodbye to your morning and afternoon)
It demands too much time with no real challenge, only your patience and time. It gives the illusion of challenge through grinding, which in this case is down again to unresponsive controls.
