It was a launch title, so it's quality is no surprise. But even so, it's hard to stick through to the end.
We begin with little introduction to the storyline. Sadly, that's how it stays throughout. There are next to no backstories for any of the characters, and we don't really even know what the bad guys' intentions are. The ending is also possibly the single worst ending in any game or movie ever.
Gameplay isn't much better. It handles a bit like a regular FPS with the dual stick method and the fire button on R1. It's very repetitive, with every bad guy having exactly the same tactics and design. At least on most other shooters, the enemies looked a little different. Not here though.
Graphically, the game is good enough. Lighting effects are good for an early PS2 game. But voice acting is horrible. Delivery is bad, with lines being repeated at least once in the game.
This is typical of EA. They always create something standard and bland, or hyped but a failure. If you want a better 3rd person shooter, stick to Max Payne.
