Good game, bad execution.

User Rating: 7.5 | X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Uncaged Edition) X360
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one of the very few exciting games at this time of the year. April was a very dry month when came to new good games, and Wolverine came and made it look a little bit wet. Not necessarily in a good way, but it is definitely a game you would want to try.

The story begins in a junk yard, or what seems to be a junk, where wolverine shows up and starts chopping heads and limbs for no apparent reason. Then time goes back with him and he jumps of off an exploding chopper with not much explanation. The story is very weak and you probably want to watch the movie to understand the missing links here. The game's story was not interesting at all, but the gameplay keeps you occupied for a while.

This game is a typical hack and slash action. You gain experience points when you kill an enemy, then you gain 2 skill points when you level up. You can spend these points on additional moves or to expand your rage meter or health meter. Rage is what need to execute exceptional moves. Each one of the four moves is well balanced and can be used in different occasions.

The major drawback of this game is repetition. The environments don't change as you just keep going bank and forth from the jungle to the lab-like levels. There's plenty of playing hours here, I for example, needed about 10 hours to finish everything but didn't necessarily have fun throughout that whole game. Especially at the last two hours.

In general the game is good. I can see why GS gave it 7/10 but I think it is not fare. I'd give it 7.5/10 for the graphics and the leveling system.

Is the game worth purchasing ?: Nope, $60 is too much for it. -except for the extra levels, I never got the chance to play them-.
