Wolverine had a lot of things done right, yet they forgot to add some more variety to the combat.

Good : Some cool finishers. Wolverine's healing ability. Well executed violence.

Bad : Framerate. Some levels arent fun. Cutscenes. Abominable story-telling. Lack of combat moves.

Wolverine is made by some talented guys, there's no contest to that. Playing the game, you can clearly see the effort put into this software to make it fun. Is it just another movie-game?

Kinda. It has the sense of rush, the sense of '' had to be done within that ammount of time. '' due to severe bugs, unpolished graphical aspects, and some questionnable boss encounters. Yet, the game had loads if good ideas, and some of them just needed a little bit of polish to make it a really good beat em up.

The game opens up in an awesome way, though it shows the game's main problem : horrible framerate. The first level is filled with awesome action, with omg moments, and the rest of the game has one or two. That's bad pacing.

Graphics : I will never say it enough, but for god'sake, leave the unreal engine 3.0 to gears of war. You devs all fail to use it properly. It's filled with bugs, texture pop-in, framerate issues and blurry textures. Wolverine's posture doesnt change with his claws closed or out, wich is very odd at first glance. Other than that, some effects are good, like wolverine's berserk and hugh jackman's model looks decent.

Sound : Most voice acting ( ingame, at least ) is muffled by all of the other noises, and since there's no subtitle option, its a bummer. Wolverine will often speak, yet you hear nothing but '' tchiks, schwings, taktaktaktak ' and grunts from the fighting.

Gameplay : Most of the levels are well executed, in a way that they '' work ''. Unfortunatly, devs forgot to add something fun to do in them. For instance, the game only revolves around combat. And wolverine has only his claws as weapons, unlike most beat em ups, so its easy to guess that those Raven dudes thought of a huge palette of moves to counter the huge repetiveness of the claws, right? Well, no. They didnt. You have all the basic moves in grapples like in every other beat em ups, minus other weapon choice. So you'll constantly do the same ( x,x,x,x,y ) combo, and if you feel like it, the quick kill animation ( there's a severe lack of different finishers ), wich gets boring after the first two level.

Replay value : If you have the will to beat the fairly lenghty game ( at least, for an action title ), you may have the will to beat it again. As for me, I will never, ever play this game again. By the robotic industry, I was completely fed up of this game's combat system, wich is sad, because there was some good ideas behind it.

I've never really cared about the X-men with their funny costumes, and this game's storyline completely threw me off willing to understand it.

Overall, Wolverine is better than your average movie game, but it's just another- and very average, mind you - beat em up. It actually remind me of Conan. With more levels and less combat moves. And claws, bub.
