I don't know what I was expecting in the first place. But I know this wasn't exactly what I wanted to see.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine had a movie and a video game released almost at the same time. But that word sums up the game, 'almost'. The movie, while not Oscar material, was a thrilling action-packed experience. Enough to make me watch it 3 times in two days at the cinema. But the game however did hit a few sour notes every now and then.

First off, it is a little buggy. Especially when your running about the maps. The game does slow down because it cant achieve the 60 frames per second rate. But that is alright. Seeing as how this bug only occurs every now and then.

The game play can also be repetitive. You will often find yourself repeating the same 'grab, stab, stab and stab' maneuver. But just to spice things up, Wolverine also has the ability to lunge at your enemies. But this only works on the lower level enemies. Not any of the higher leveled ones or even bosses. But I guess that makes sense.

Boss fights can also be a drag because the bosses are not introduced properly and most of the time, you don't even know why your bashing them up! That's the frustrating part.

But other than that, there are only minor issues with the often too easy difficulty. But that really doesn't interrupt game play that often. If anything, it only adds to the replay value for me. And that won't be the only thing fueling my decision to play this game again and again. The story line at the hallmark of it is especially exciting the second time around. Even more so because it expands on the existing story line of the movie.

But on the upside, the graphics are awesome. Without a glitch in sight. And with all the blood everywhere, it is reminiscent of Gears of War. Combos are also very pleasing and exciting to do. And finally, the rage attacks are awesome and really give you the feel of the extent of Wolverine's power.

So to sum up, it' not the best game of the year. and you shouldn't play it before watching the movie but, overall its the best X-Men game I've ever played.
