So far the best Wolverine based game to date. (Revision to previous Review)

Game is pretty cool. Definately doesn't fall into the general bad movie game catagory but it doesn't make u go oh wow best game ever either.

The game play to me is what makes this game. Wolverine's moves and regen powers are on point. Violent as all hell. I was a little shocked at how violent since I haven't seen Marvel games dismember, decapitate humans like this. Its on the level of God of War violence but hey its Wolverine...have to expect that. I'm not complaining one bit on that.

The game does get a bit repetative. It is basically a button masher with the lunge ability breaking up the monotony a lil. U'll like lunge, but again even that gets a lil ho hum after a while. Not much though. Wolverines special attacks like spin, and beserker rage, etc add to the reason I feel the gameplay is the strength of this game. U will have fun chopping the sh*t out of enemy AI no question. There is some rpg elements..assigning skills pts to wolverine, attributes and what not.Guess Raven cant stray to far from the Ultimate Alliance / X-men Legends formula.

Ok bad side. There is really no graphics options other then changing the brightness or the resolution. Game ran for me at a lil over 60 fps on a Nvidia 285 sli set up at 1920 x 1200. Looks like the vsync is locked with no option to unlock it. Some people like myself like disabling vsync but this isnt that much of a game breaker. The graphics are cool but u can tell they spent more time on character models and a lil less on enviornments. On some enviornemtns however they pop while others looks eh. I witness a lil rendering issues which kinda surprised me. No freezes or lock up occured during my time playing. Game doesn't seem to be buggy. I witnessed one enemy ai just twitching while I didnt kill it yet and there was one instance where a character just hung in mid air. Other then that no real issues. Although this kinda irked me a bit. Ok Wolverine has on a wife beater and is getting shot up...stabbed etc...eventually the wife beater gets ripped, torned, etc and he ends up just running around with no shirt. How is it when u reach some check points u magially have on a fresh wife beater? Did he goto K-mart and pick up a three pack during a cut scene??? It kinda spoiled the realism if u wanna call it it that for me. Also the cut scenes are pre-rendered not real time. Another observation is (spolier!!!...sort of) in the game u can collect dog tags from randomly dead enemies. These enemies aren't enemies u have faught against rather they are corpses of soilders, mercs, ect that seemed to have died from something else. Why u would even bother ripping the dog tags off enemies u didn't even fight didn't make any sense to me. Would have been better if u got the dog tags from enemies u already faught. Also it looks like they re-used alotta character models especially the dead soilders, mercs u pull the dog tags from. Looks kinda dumb and lazy on the devs side to be honest. Possible game was rushed which is odd considering Raven said they had an extra year to work on the game.

Ok in closing the game is cool but i'd wait till its like $20 or less on Steam , direct2drive etc. Game doesn't suck but I don't see any re-play value once u finish. Btw took me a lil under 10hrs. I was milking it. Could of finished quicker. The bonus missions are ok but again doesn't give me that much a desire to hop back into the game. I dont know if that would be the case if they actually had the Wolverine game room included with this copy which Ebgames was advertising with pre-orders. The bonus custumes are azz.. Yuck! Maybe some patches adding what u would call danger room missions or something might strengthen the value of the game but for now...eh. But I give Raven props...this is the best Wolverine game to date. Not like there are a ton of them out here anyways. Spiderman: Web of Shadows was more of a value IMO.
