Excellent Action-Packed Gorefest That Raises The Bar For Movie-Based Titles- Pure and Simple Beat 'em Up.

I was reluctant on this game for two reasons; 1: Movie based games are usually huge bombs because developers have to rush to get the game onto the shelves, and 2: Recent X-Men games just aren't that great. But, I gave it a chance and, to my surprise, it wasn't half bad. For one thing, it didn't just re-tread the plot of the movie, sure it had some key scenes but most of the game expands the plot. Another thing, unlike most beat 'em ups, you have a decent set of skills, enough to where your don't find yourself button mashing, but rather entering combinations to see the oh so satisfying effects. There's even a small but well done RPG type attribute point system. There's some replayability; throughout the game, there are different trophies you can collect to unlock bonus games which gives you different wolverine attires (my favorite is the Classic Wolverine costume). One thing I really don't understand is why they didn't put in more bonus games; such as a "survive as long as you can through waves of enemies" type of thing like in Spartan: Total Warrior. People who pre-ordered the game got the "Weapon X Arena" which is pretty awesome it's "survive as long as you can through waves of enemies" on steriods. It's available on for 800 microsoft points on Xbox Live. All in all, buy this game, and get the DC. You won't regret it.
