Much better than last year.
WSOP:08 (World Series of Poker:2008) is a huge step up from last years game. Much has changed and I am now going to break it down for you.
GRAPHICS 8.5/10
Much improved over last years boring interface and plastic looking models. This year the models look fantastic and now the lips match the speech. There are also lots of casinos and hotels to play poker all with extremely good detail. Brought back from last year is the digicam creator. When you actually get this thing to work your personal character looks a bit better than last year. More detail etc. Though it is still a major pain in the arse to get this thing to work.
SOUND 8.75/10
Last year it was very easy to tell who was bluffing. Coughes, sneezing, and yawning were obvious tells. This year you dont get that luxery. Now your opponents may yawn or cough but this time it could be a trap. Also added to this years game is color commentary by Lon McEachern and Norman Chad. And yes they bring those witty comments with them. Some casinos still have pretty bad backround music playing but I guess we wouldnt be listening to Eminem during the World Series of Poker.....would we?
GAMEPLAY 9/10
Last year you focused on playing events and making your way to the Tournament of Champions. This year your goal is to win player of the year. You get to play the entire WSOP schedule and try to earn money and points to become the player of the year. You will play all kinds of different game types like: No Limit Holdem, 7 card stud, Omaha, and many more. The presentation also feels like a real televised game. The commentary flows nicely and you even get to get a glimpse of the card cam showing what the river would have been.
OVERALL 8.75/10
Overall I think this is the best poker game out there. The WSOP schedule keeps the replay value up and the presentation might even keep you from fast forwarding through your opponents turns.
The stats are fantastic keep a talley on everything you have done. Authentic pro models and their voices. And a pretty solid online mode.
