This is GameSpot's baseball game of the year???? This is one of the worst baseball games I have ever played. (I am not some guy from EA trying to make its rival game look bad.) But seening this is so popular, I will try to explain my thinking. The graphics are pretty much great, but there are a few moments where I feel like the bump-mapping is overdone. The players faces don't look very realistic. The gameplay is very bad. Sega makes all pitches sort of lob, even the fastballs. And I hate batting cursors. But the fielding is the worst part. The ball travels so slow, and all runners are able to steal an extra base, because the ball is not only slow, it goes high in the air. The only really good thing about the game is that the sound is great, I love ESPN announcers. And the catcher taunts just sound wonderful. I wish there were more game modes besides franchise. This game is far from the best baseball game of the year. If you want a good baseball game, my advice to you is to buy MVP Baseball 2003.
