Wrath has killed WoW for me.

With the release of Wrath of the Lich King I was very hyped up about the new class, new continent, skills etc. When I first arrived in Northrend I was taken away by the view of the towering Fjord way up above and the misty waters of Howling Fjord. Some of the quests were pretty fun I have to say it does make a nice change from the "Kill 10 boars" type of quest.

I made level 80 from my 70 main paladin in roughly 10 days as I was leveling as Holy. So it's not hard to imagine that I got a group for every instance while leveling along the way. The instances are kind of fun but they lacked the length and substance that Vanilla and Burning Crusade Instances. It all felt a bit too easy... this by the way is my general feeling over Wrath. I hit 80, did heroics okay these were Heroics but back to my point they were really easy... especially compared to the Outland dungeon heroics. These were just Tank pulls 5 easily holds aggro, DPS spam AOEs and I the healer just heal. All pretty boring, although I do have to give Blizzard credit on the visuals of the dungeons, they were great and some of the boss fights are unique.

Anyway after doing Heroics I got into the raiding scene (still as a Holy Paladin) Okay this is my main issue with Wrath. The raids. Naxxramas really didn't cut it for me it's fun the first time of clearing (speaking from a person that didn't raid in vanilla) but you see... the instance was just too easy and the general feel just lacks any achievement when you defeat a boss. Just a quick example when we downed Kel'Thuzad I was like "yay, we've finished this place finally" and when I downed Illidan Stormrage back in The Burning Crusade I felt real achievement in what I and the raid group had accomplished, same for Kael'thas, Lady Vashj and Archimonde. Those fights were actually very skill based. Naxxramas fights just require co-ordination which is (lets be honest) the bare minimum expected of a successful raid group. Okay there was The Eye of Eternity and Obsidian Sanctum those were a nice step up in the difficulty i'm used to but everything just seems so... all looks and no real substance. Sarth + 2 drakes is pretty manageable with a good raid group. Sarth + 3 drakes was a nice challenge (one which I didn't do due to raid members making silly mistakes including fire and such).

Now I left the game about a month before Ulduar was released and now with the release of the Call of the Crusade patch I'm starting to think "will WoW ever be the same old WoW?" and I doubt that. If they were to release another expansion which is highly likely I hope Blizzard do now put a bit more 'feel' into the game instead of going "hey players, here's some shiny new stuff knock yourself out".

Perhaps I may rejoin one day just to see... I get the feeling Icecrown won't give players the same 'epic' feeling that Mount Hyjal or Black Temple gave me, so most likely i'll rejoin if the next expansion seems appealing.

Thank You for reading.
