The first thrill of a 3D shooter game remains indelible in my mind.

Before playing Wolfenstein 3D in 1995, my biggest PC gaming experience with limited within Prince of Persia, and, I think, Space Quest. So you can easily imagine the level of surprise I had when I started playing it at a cousin's PC. To play this game, I would visit my cousin again and again. During the first attempts, I could hardly finish the first three levels. Every time I would return home, I would be numb with the feeling that I could have ended 'that level' if I did this-- or that.
Now that I look back at the game, the graphics are so simple and the gameplay was so easy. But back then, that was the best around (off course I did not play Doom yet). To evaluate Wolfenstein 3D, you must consider the reality of its time of release.
You all know that this is about killing the Nazis at castel Wolfenstein and retrieve valuable war documents. The premise is good enough for a pioneering FPS that you can play for many months without losing interest. The simplistic 3D, back at that time, was hard to implement during that time due to the limitation of the graphic card and computing technology. But be rest assured, this game started the fire that is still burning.
