This game is strange. Not the same strange as Advent Rising, but the good strange, like Katamari Damacy.

When you first look at the screenshots and description for Within a Deep Forest, you'll probably ask why you wasted your time looking at it's GameSpot mini site. Why would you ever want to get a game where you play as a bouncy ball trying to stop the evil Dr. Cliche?

But then you find out that it's free.

A minute of downloading later, you'll start up this strange game. After watching the narrated intro sequence, you'll start gameplay, and get hooked. Really hooked. The point of the game is to get more powers for your ball to eventually stop the evil Dr. Cliche. The addictive and extremely challenging gameplay will make you want more and more of it even after the ending sequence.

As for sound, it is nothing short of amazing for such a low budget game. Even in comparison to some other full budgeted side scrollers, it's still great. From a strange electronic score, to sound effects such as a glass ball breaking or the unique noises for some textures against others, the game's sound is memorable.

As I said before, you'll want more after you finish the game. Replay value for Within a Deep Forest is somewhat there, with a time trial waiting for you. However, their isn't much of a reward for this except for getting your time recorded on a website.

Within a Deep Forest is great, and I would suggest it to any one of any age. The gameplay, although challenging, is revolutionary. Plus, it's free.
