Around the time of its release there was nothing else around that remotely came close. I bought my first (and the first ever for that matter) Sound Blaster so I could hear this game in stereo. It was amazing. Up to that point all games I had played merely had beeps and clicks coming out of a computer speaker. This game changed everything. Features aside, the gameplay itself was pretty awesome for its time. Being able to conversate with various crew members really lent to a feeling of being part of the team and seeing fellow pilots die was truly unfortunate.
