Great new addition makes Resort a worthy successor to Wii Sports.

User Rating: 8 | Wii Sports Resort (w/Wii MotionPlus) WII
Positive
- Several more minigames to play than before
- A lot of fun to play
- Attractive graphics
- Simple to get used to

Negative
- Low level of challenge
- Too much waggling in some events

Wii Sports Resort is a great improvement on Wii Sports. The game includes over 15 minigames, which are much better than the original. The lasting appeal is higher; the fun is increased, but keeps a clean presentation and a soft level of challenge. Overall, this game is a great addition to the Wii.

There are around 18 events, including bowling and golf which where found in the original. Almost all the events are a ton of fun. Frisbee is a new event which is especially fun, cycling, basketball, table tennis replaces tennis, sword fighting, archery and a lot more. Certain events require a lot of hand-shaking; cycling is one of them which will wear you out. The game as soft as ever, with a slightly higher difficulty than before. All events show you the instruction of how to play, and a stage practice but you can skip. Normally each sport has more than one type of stage and you can play with a friend.

Mii characters can be used as well. Characters you use can gain experience. Also to unlock new stages and difficulty you need to play the previous one in order to unlock it. This is a party game so the lack of single-player modes is to be expected. Most modes can be played with a single remote such as archery. Other modes are to be played in turns, but if you want to play simultaneously you need an extra motionplus controller to do so.

As it was before, Resort's presentation is rather simple with a bit more details than Wii Sports. The Mii characters still look like playmobile characters but that isn't a bad thing at all. All environments greatly capture the real-life background of the sport. The music is a bit better with little voice acting. The controls are simple to get used to, and also the game shows you the instructions of each sport beforehand.

Resort is a superior version of Wii Sports in almost every aspect. This party game still lacks a compelling single-player only mode, a tougher difficulty and adds some needless waggling. But the great new amount of sport will leave a big impact on those who enjoyed Wii Sports. Wii Sports Resort successfully succeeds and becomes a Wii game that can't be missed for a party.

Graphics = 8.3
Improved graphics but doesn't push the Wii to its limit.

Sound = 7.5
Good music with little commentary.

Presentation = 8.2
Simple but appealing controls, a great camera in almost all events, and fast loadings. Instruction before each event is helpful.

Gameplay = 8.6
With around 18 events which are all fun, it's an almost perfect party game. Might require an extra motionplus controller for multiplayer and lacks a focused single-player mode but there is enough to keep you entertained for a while. Too much shaking in some events.

Modes = 7.9
There are countless hours to spend here and there is enough to keep many coming. Soft difficulty limits the fun.
