User Rating: 9.5 | WarioWare: Twisted! GBA
Unique gameplay is one of the things Nintendo specializes in and sets it apart from the competition. WarioWare Twisted exemplifies this through it's use of a gyrosensor to detect movement of the GBA to affect movement in the game. If you're unfamiliar with the WarioWare series, the gameplay revolves around Wario's lust for money which leads him to create his own game with the help of his friends. The whole thing is broken up in 200 mini-games that last on average of 5 seconds a piece forcing you to think quick and act quicker. You're treated to usually a one or two word instruction and then you are thrust into each minigame hoping to complete it so you can move on to the next and then the next as the clock ticks down faster and faster. What sets this apart from previous ones is the fact that you play the games through moving your GBA, which takes some practice to get used to. This makes Twisted much more difficult than previous titles which only had you press a button or touch the screen. Twisted also ramps up the difficulty through not giving you points for failing a minigame. This will take considerably longer to get used to as with previous titles, if you had to pass 10 stages of a mini game, you could scrape by with passing 6 or 7 and miss 3 knowing the counter would still increase. To counter the difficulty is the rewards (souvenirs) you're able to earn. In true WarioWare fashion, you'll have a mix of both useless items (A gnome with snow on it's hat you can shake off) to the odd (two person love compatibility tester) to the truly addicting (Several versions of Table Air Hockey). With 140+ prizes to win, there's enough here to keep anyone busy and entertained for hours. As for the actual mini-games themselves, you'll find a wide variety of twisting and turning action which mixes it up at every opportunity to offer an overall enjoyable, challenging, and most importantly, a fun experience. WarioWare Twisted is one of the better handheld games this year, and any fan of handheld games or previous WarioWare titles would be remiss to skip out on this exceptional game!
