War World Fails to Deliver. The search for a good Mech game continues on.

User Rating: 5 | War World X360
Opinion -I have been a fan of the original Mechassault (MA)game (which I'm upset that XBOX has not made playable for the 360) and the Lone Wolf Mechassault 2 (MA2). There has been a void in the genre for quite some time. Where MA is a pure mech game, MA2 was about the man in the mech, and War World was about ...

Good - for a XBLA game the graphics were awesome. The movement was fluid, the sound adequate, and the control slightly quirky but workable.

Bad - Unless your a glutten for punishment due to the repetitive nature of each stage (beat one wave, beat two waves, beat three waves, etc) the redundancy dulls the brain quickly. Multiplayer is better suited for this game. However, once you figure out which mech types are the best the matches become boring.
Here's an example: Run forward shoot, kill enemy, get killed from behind.

The Maps are cramped, small trees can't be destroyed (so if you're trying to use your figure eight technique to fight, the smallest tree will not yield to your advances), and ammo is also limited.

Overall - The game failed to deliver. Of course, its a XBLA game but for $10 dollars (800 MS points) there should of been more to it. This games deserves a C-, passing but below average.

In Closing - If Duke Nukem can make a come back why not MA. Bring back MA for XBLA! This will quiet the disgruntled Mech fans. Also, the trial version is a joke. You can't even play with the mechs. You get only to view each one's specs and watch them running (probably from the game reviewers). The inability to play a trial version further strengthens the fact that the vendor had low confidence in their product to entice the masses.
