Virtua Tennis 3 does wrong what Virtua Tennis did right
Starting with the less important things: the atmosphere is horrible. The soundtrack gets annoying very fast and if you just had an incredible rally there's silence and then a bit of applause. After a 20-30 ball exchange rally I expect the arena go wild!
But this is just a minor aspect. What is more important is the difficulty level. Easy and Medium is way too easy. If you crank it up to Hard or even Very Hard you're in for a ride. The AI returns MAX serves with his own max return, they return balls pretty hard that they just barely reached. They give you extremely short stops the same way.
You want to do the same? Well, buy a different game because it's not possible. Balls you barely reached are very weak, you can be very happy if you get a good stop. And I don't even want to talk about volley! Extremely imprecise and easy to return for the AI.
If you want a good tennis game get Virtua Tennis 1, Top Spin 3 or the first Mario Tennis for the N64.
