A game that scratched my Fallout itch recently was Wasteland 2, different in so many ways but the post apocalyptic vibe was true, and the RPG elements are solid.. it's top down as opposed to first person (like the original Fallout games), a hugely entertaining game that should tide over wasteland enthusiasts everywhere :-)

@mpl911: I hope they do get that game out to a wider audience, it's really well done. It'll be interesting to see how they port the controls to a gamepad..

@Stonedwolfed: very true man, for some, but I'd be willing to bet most of the people on these forums have never played the original Wasteland :-/ I started with Fallout myself, didn't play the original Wasteland until much later, so from a matter of perspective, it's a Fallout itch for me ;-)

@bdiddytampa: Yes probably very true most people haven't played Wasteland 1, though even as late as the year 2000 it was within the Top 30 PC games of all time (not just RPGs).

I didn't play it back in the day but I did play Bard's Tale and Battle Chess by the same producer and team.

Watching the video, looking good, going along well, good questions, good observations, good sharing of info... and THEN, you ask, "Do the Yankees still exist?" 0.o

Dude, you're in Boston, even after 200 years of post apocalyptic existence, asking about the Yankees while holding a baseball in Boston should make you lose Karma and turn all nearby NPC's hostile. Asking about the Red Sox, now that might have gained you karma and opened all secret conversations to 100% probability. What a noob.

For me, I couldn't care less about how the game looks. Fallout 3 and new vegas both looked awful, but were good games because of other reasons. I still look forward to seeing more about this game in the coming months.

what an awesome show, thanks for making this Danny + team. also video editing is super good, how do you get that 'grainy' or 'grimdark' look? is it color correction or lens magic? anyways, best vidya game crew on the internets.

Fallout 4 probably is the least exciting anticipation of the series. I want to play a lonely survivor in a gloomy post apocalyptic world.

But Fallout's never been gloomy. It always had a colorful sense of humor.

haha That's true, and I'm sure bethesda can make it look gloomy still, without it being all "nuclear green".

I don't think the reddit post leak was really full of rumours we already knew. There were 3 long paragraphs specifically detailing what the story is about and the different factions involved. But you dismiss it because there were a few lines with obvious guesses like "Feral Ghouls return". Well sure that part is obvious, but the 3 paragraphs before it aren't obvious and were never previously rumoured as far as I know.

Great video as usual. I tried pointing out on the day the trailer was released some of the ways the game looks much improved over F3 and NV. With the better lighting, weather effects, reflections etc. People are too quick to hate on a game. Some are even saying this game looks just like Fallout 3. To those guys, I suggest you pull the game out and have a little reminder. I've been playing around with it over the last couple of days. The graphics in this trailer are much better.

Bethesda has done a decent job with Fallout and Elder Scrolls imo. There's no reason to think they are going to completely drop the ball this time. I'm kind of iffy about the talking protagonist idea but, I'm sure it'll all fall into place. People need to lighten up. Its just a 2 minute trailer.

Given the post below by Frank_Castle.

I also consider gameplay / modability (is that a word?) the most important, unlike him however graphics are also extremely important to me. I modded skyrim to the point where it damn near broke. I bought the witcher 3 twice... (first for the ps4) i loved the game but wanted more, and after seeing pc footage i had to own it for pc (my pc runs it, on high to ultra though it's starting to reveal it's age)

Meaning odds i'll have to upgrade to enjoy fallout 4 to it's fullest are very plausable indeed. Thus starting from the next paycheck i'll start putting money aside, till the release of fallout or december 2015 (whichever comes first). and building the best possible system with the money i've put aside.

Aiming for about 2000 euro's as a budget.

Oh trust me, I'll be modding the hell out of Fallout 4 as well.

I'm just saying, if I was a console gamer, would I let slightly subpar graphics turn me off from what promises to be another epic experience from Bethesda? Hell no.

The people who are saying it looks just like Fallout 3 are going seriously overboard on the hyperbole. It looks WAYYYYY better than Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It doesn't have Witcher 3-esque open world visuals, but I honestly don't care.

@frank_castle: I get your point given the context.

And as for the people saying it looks like fallout 3... those people haven't seen fallout 3 in a loooong time.

Also what have we truly seen? A rendered demo? I'll decide when we see some extended gameplay how it looks. Though i'm honestly expecting it'll blow me away.

As a PC gamer, I couldn't care less about the graphics.

The modding community has been dying to sink their teeth into this game for the last 5 years. There is going to be a ton of texture, character model, lighting and weather mods within 2 weeks of release.

Even if I was a console gamer, I still wouldn't care. Fallout 3 looked dated when it came out in 2008 and New Vegas looked SUPER dated by the time it came out in 2010. Didn't prevent me from having hours upon hours of fun with each title.

As far as gaming is concerned, nothing gets me more pumped up than the reveal of a new Bethesda open world game. Lots of developers do them now, but Bethesda captures that "I wonder what's around the next corner?" sense of exploration better than anyone else.

Great show Danny.

@EliOli : Agreed. Bethesda are great at creating engrossing worlds that you want to explore. I call them the kings of the flawed masterpiece. Most people, if you talk to them about Bethesda's games, will be able to tell you there are many areas they fall short. Be that in combat, animations, graphics etc. But the world and want to explore is so strong that you can't help but remain engrossed the entire time; well, I can't, anyway. I think the fact that they can have so many problems and yet still keep people engaged is just a testament to how strong the worlds and experiences they create truly are.

I'm psyched for Fallout 4, but I'm also a little wary that the bright colours, the BioShock: Infinite-style smooth/cartoony characters, and the lack of nuclear damage to the buildings might ruin the "feel" of the game for me. One of my problems with New Vegas was that it felt more like a steam-punk Western than a post-apocalyptic game, to me, personally.

I really liked the damage, the ruin, the emptiness of the DC wastes in Fallout 3. It felt like a desperate cling to life, like almost all signs of civilization had been wiped out, ... when you entered a building, it felt like nobody had been in there for a hundred years, and that was cool. The world was different... it was all salvage and bric-a-brac tech and improvisation, etc. My fear, then, is that Fallout 4 will feel too clean, populated, electric and almost affluent in its own way.

Will reserve my judgement.

@tom_cat_01: Those are all fair points and all, but the flip side is that these games take place over 100 years after the bombs dropped, and with people living on the surface it doesn't really make much sense that everything is still in total decay, other than a place like DC, which was also infested with super mutants... no one wants to mess with them!

To think Megaton was basically the only new structure after the war in the surrounding area seems a little silly don't you think...? And what was with all the empty space in FO3...? Like half the buildings were eviscerated by the blast, but those other building 10 feet away managed to survive...?

I loved Fallout 3, but personally I don't really want another game quite that bleak and empty feeling... and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense from a narrative perspective imo.

@tom_cat_01: Yea I hear that, really I'd like to see a bit of both FO3 and NV in this game, I really liked the open exploration feel of FO3, but I also liked the more human/civilized elements of NV.

I get what you're saying about the bleak feel of it all though, it does kind of need to fit into FO somewhere, it can't ALL be a functioning society, where's the thrill in that?

Why would anyone think it would be 2016 or 2017? Lol. Bethesda have a proven track record of reveal and release the same year. If they say 2015 it will be 2015. When have they ever shown a trailer for a game 1-2 yrs away?

@tom_cat_01: It was announced in December of 2010 with a fixed release date and released in November 2011. I'd chalk that one up to picking the best launch window than the status of development.

Out 2015? I don't think so!

My guess is 2016 mid/late or 2017. In addition, if they say it is going to be released 2015, my guess is that it will be delayed. Regardless, can't wait! :)

heres what not just i but many people are guessing is in the game:

dynamic weather was something we believed would be in the next game, as so it seems to be with all types of weather event unfolding. but we also thought that this could also be a side quest of a wacky scientist trying to recreate weather and that you may end up walking the wasteland and for some reason starts to snow in the middle of a hot time. it may go further into being a whole DLC as told in NV "nuclear winter wonderland".

its believed that there will most likly be a way to become a ghoul, cyborg and/or super mutant as a part of a side quest or even again a DLC, when you change into one of them you get perks (positive and negative ones) associated to them.

the games most likly going to have a karma and faction system like NV but most likly tweaked this time to change after sidequests dependent on what is done.

this may be a long stretch but a possibly youu can damage the environment, you could literally blow up a house with a fat man (with huge ramifications) tho i still think they will make kids unkillable.

there going to be a lot more perks on offer as well, most of them associated with what you do (like in NV taking to many chems gets you a perk) for instance you could become religious and get perks like increased to luck for being devoted to a god ETC

crazed robt quests that think there humans and humans that think they're robots

factions will most likly consist of:
the institute
BOS
religious cults
raider cults
vault tec
ghouls
super mutant
robots
remnants of the enclave
slavers
runaway cyborgs

all with a city/base of their own that will most likly start off hostile to you until you do something for them.

there will be some type of NPC player minigame like in NV to get extra caps most likly a mixed currency.

new chems (being able to smoke is probable)
new weapons
new collectable (like bobbleheads) im guessing cards

and many more stuff.

Can Three Dog's leak really be characterized as "accidental"? Look at his tweet, he knew exactly what he was saying. He knew FO4 hadn't been announced. His tweet had zero subtlety. It wasn't accidental. He never even deleted the tweet! You can still look at it today.
