Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 2 Breakdown & References - "Far From Home"

The crew of the USS Discovery crash land in the future and must race against time to repair their ship. Greg & Chastity break down the plot and references from "Far From Home".

In Season 3 Episode 1, we saw Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) come through the wormhole and into the future. In Episode 2, we find out what happened to the rest of the USS Discovery crew as they travel through the wormhole 930 years to the year 3188. The Discovery crew crash land on a mysterious planet upon arrival, knocking out their tactical systems and communications. They don't know where or when they are.

On top of that, the ship is covered in parasitic ice that accelerates in the shade. Together, the crew must repair the EPS grid before sundown, when the ice will crush the ship and everyone inside. Unfortunately, there isn't enough rubindium to repair communications.

Saru (Doug Jones) and Tilly must venture to an active settlement nearby and make first contact in order to get what they need for the repairs. There, they cross paths with a miner named Kal, and learn they are on a planet known as The Colony. Unfortunately, the Discovery was also detected by The Colony's villainous courier, Zareh. Chastity and Greg recap the story and comb through Episode 2 for Easter eggs and Star Trek references from past episodes of Discovery Season 2, Deep Space Nine, and The Next Generation.
