Red Dead Redemption 2 - Trailer 3 Breakdown

The third trailer for Rockstar's highly anticipated Western game finally dropped, and there's a lot to unpack. Join Rob and Jake as they break everything down. RDR2 releases on Xbox One and PS4 on October 26th, 2018.

With Rockstar Games releasing its newest trailer, we're getting more clues about Red Dead Redemption 2's story and maybe even a slice of some gameplay. We already knew the PS4 and Xbox One game would be set in 1899, a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption, and would follow the story of "outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive." There's a lot more going on though, and the third trailer better establishes the tone for the upcoming game's narrative.

In the video above, Rob and Jake break down everything we've learned about RDR2, including the trailer's big reveal that John Marston, the protagonist of the first Red Dead Redemption, is in this game too. We knew, based the previous trailer, that a number of familiar faces would show up in the game, but this is the first indication that Marston himself will be included in some capacity.

We're still piecing together exactly what RDR2 will entail. We do know a bit from Rockstar, which has provided this synopsis of the plot so far: "The end of the Wild West era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed," the company said.

"After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him."

Red Dead Redemption 2 has faced delays; however, the game now appears to be on track. Rockstar has confirmed October 26 release, and it and its parent company have insisted that it won't be delayed again. Unfortunately, there's still no word on a PC release.
