I love Remedy, but graphically this looks like absolute garbage because of the crap hardware they had to dumb it down too. Hopefully MS didn't hamstring them on the PC port with lowest denominator development. Also, holy crushed blacks. Remedy, next time please form your exclusive partnership with someone other than Microsoft so you can develop on real hardware. (Still going to play it - but now will likely sell my POS Xbox One and play it on my PC) 720p is an absolute joke.

@Utnayan: I love Remedy, but graphically this looks like absolutely stunning. Glad MS isn't hamstringing them on the PC port with lowest denominator development. I love there there are no crushed blacks, and doesn't look as washed out as our PS4 games end up looking. Remedy, next time please continue to form your exclusive partnership with Microsoft so you can continue to develop on real hardware.

It is really sad though that the PS4 and X1 do struggle with good games, having them all at 30fps and 900p average.

@kvally: There are crushed blacks all over this thing. How do you not see them? PS4 has most games at 1080p native. "Dynamic" resolution - a term coined by Microsoft itself, is what we get with the underpowered X1. I own all three major consoles. My Xbox One has seen less use than my relic Atari 2600 that hasn't been turned on for 19 years.

@Utnayan: Well, MOST games on the Xbox One are 1080p when you go by overall numbers, just like the PS4. But yeah, no crushed black issues here in QB unless you have a monitor problem on your end (you could look at restarting your computer maybe?).

Maybe one day as the generation continues we will see more 1080 games on the PS4 and X1, but at least we know they are trying. Hoping we get some good games on our PS4 soon too, I haven't turned that bad boy on in ages.

The PS4 sadly is dramatically under powered. I haven't seen consoles this under powered since 1972 when I first got pong 44 years ago.

@kvally: Xbox One games aren't running anything but Indie games at 1080p. It's 900p to 910p max with dynamic resolution. So I am not sure where you are getting your information from in your comment. Most PS4 games are 1080p natively holding the same frames. As far as games go, the PS4 gets much more use. My Xbox One: Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5 (Huge Disappointment) Ori the Blind Forest, Ryse, Sunset Overdrive. My PS4 has seen both exclusives and non exclusives. Witcher 3, Bloodborne, DS2, Last of us Remastered, GoW3 remastered, Uncharted 4, The Division, Far Cry 4, Battlefront (Horrible), The Order (horrible) Black Flag, Alien isolation, MLB the Show, etc. Some good, some bad, but all at constant native and higher resolutions. I have played a few games side by side. The differences are notable. Especially with the poor upscaling the X1 does if it isn't done on a pass through through the receiver instead. Slow load times, very slow install times, and an app needed to play Blu-Ray, along with limited and slow ESRAM make the X1 a complete piece of garbage when comparing the two. There is literally no comparison. The good news is that MS is getting their ass kicked this generation with not even HALF of the install base the PS4 has right now, as a result of a poor console and poor decision making. Hopefully, it forces them to compete next generation - because the 360 was a great console. And last year, the PS3 I owned sucked.

@Utnayan: I just get my information from the developers. Not only are the indie games running at 1080p, but so are AAA exclusives. Rise of the Tomb Raider (1080p), Forza Horizon (1080p), Forza Motorsport (1080p), 1080p, Ori and the Blind Forest (1080p), GTA V 1080p, Destiny (1080p), Fallout 4 (1080p) off of the top of my head. As far as games go, the Xbox One gets much more use. My Xbox One and PS4 have seen both exclusives and non-exclusives. I love some of them on my PS4 though. Until Dawn rocked, the shooting mechanics in The Order 1886. DriveClub is the best linear arcade racer I have played this gen. Never haveany slow load times with the X1 nor the PS4, even with games side by side. Sadly, the PS4 has just been lacking in games, has a subpar online, horrible UI, slow start up from stand by. But the great news is both consoles are not only doing well, but they continue to outsell and beat their old consoles going forward. Hopefully Sony does something about the loud ass fan in the PS4 when playing games and movies too with the next version. They really have been dropping the ball with hardware at Sony.

@kvally: The X1 is not outselling the 360 by any stretch of the imagination. The war is over. Even Phil Spencer conceded that much. http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2015/08/18/xbox-one-vs-ps4-is-it-really-even-a-console-war-anymore/#3c3c070235b3

As for the rest? http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4_vs._Xbox_One_Native_Resolutions_and_Framerates

With regards to UI, the PS4 is less cluttered, zero intrusive ads which are plastered all over Xbox Live's UI, slow to load apps, slow to install games. Your comments actually hurt the progress that Microsoft can make next generation but they, and you, have to admit the failure and eat some humble pie to generate the competition to come back on top in the next generation. The install base of PS4 to X1 is over a 2 to 1 ratio.

Even in that link above with the comparison charts which shows the huge variation in resolution quality between the two systems, it is almost appalling that even Metro Redux couldn't reach sustainable 1080p on an X1. A game over 5 years old. Even a 1st party launch title like Titanfall couldn't hit higher than 792p and that was with an already dated graphics engine.

So good luck next time to Microsoft. The good news? Maybe Remedy and others will think twice before excluding themselves before hand to a specific console of which they have no idea who will beat who to market. This generation has been the most disparaging as far as installed market base goes. The X1 is severely lacking in deployment in the market. The PS4 has a 2 to 1 (Well north of 12 million consoles installed in homes) advantage in the target for these developers. Development and publisher companies need to realize that exclusives are only going to be as good as their installed market base. And this time, Remedy is going to eat the pandering goose on revenue sales. Which is also probably part of the reason they frantically came out with a PC version to justify development cost/profit models. It worked great for Alan Wake and the 360 last year. This year, It isn't. It's a harsh lesson for the developer/publisher relationship with a manufacturer not to put their eggsin one basket before the chicken has come out of the barn to lay them,

Oh also, Destiny was 900p until MS allowed them to patch out the kinect memory reserve. Destiny was 900p for over 9 months. Point being, ESRAM is a nightmare. Hopefully lesson learned for Microsoft. But the fork was stuck in this one over a year ago. Now? It just hurts the developers who signed into exclusive or timed exclusive arrangements.

@Utnayan: Here at Gamespot, most of us prefer to deal with facts. The Xbox One is indeed outpacing the Xbox 360. In fact, that flies in the face of your claim that it's not happening by any stretch of the imagination. Again, you go with imagining, we will go with FACTS:

http://gamingbolt.com/xbox-one-sales-outpacing-xbox-360-at-same-point-in-generation-as-we-enter-2016

http://news.xbox.com/2016/01/04/greatest-games-extends-to-2016/

So now that we have that out of the way (you will have to let that sting die down a tad), you posted a link to IGN, with an incomplete list of games. Not sure what you are trying to say. I already posted a bunch of games that are indeed confirmed at that link that are 1080p, not including indies. So, thank you for backing me up. Funny things is, MS listened to devs and consumers that said they wanted more performance and didn't care about Kinect. MS gives the consumer and the devs the performance improvement, Destiny gets improved, then only lems could possibly turn that into a negative.

Sadly, while the PS interface is indeed clutter free, that leads to a longer actual use in time. It has been proven to be a very poor layout, and it doesn't even default to the latest played game by default. The store is a nightmare, there is no menu customization on the XMB, it is slower to start from stand by, which is proven here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs42JFiNcyA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3bAQ8crUtw

And then what were they thinking, dumping a USB port and only having two? And no ability to have portable HDD's attached and have HDD's larger than 2TB, which gives it even better performance? Good lord. I know Sony tends to learn from their mistakes, but they have been making a ton of mistakes gen, not to mention, a very shitty line up of games. I mean serious, August is Until Dawn last year, then we wait all they way till last month for SFV, which is a multiplat game and bombed? Hopefully Sony learned from stupid mistakes like that (and Black Ops 3 which is it still falling behind the Xbox One in sales there too) That is not the Sony we have grown to love. I am sure they are taking cues from MS there.

The great news here is that most games are 900p and 1080p on the X1 and PS4. Hopefully next gen Sony won't drop the ball in so many areas, and they both improve console performance.

@kvally: Since Microsoft has not released sell through numbers to customers, only shipped, and I see a lot of X1's on the store shelves, that article is completely there to mislead the likes of you. Let me let that one sink in a bit from the burn. They have shipped more consoles to retailers than they did with the 360. That really doesn't take rocket science there to notice the difference between ship to and sell through correct? Please tell me you are smarter than that.

The slower to start on standby is mitigated by the fact I am not paying an extra $20 dollars a month to power the standby mode :) Again, let me let the burn burn you some more. I have that extra second. With that said, with my hybrid SSD drive, I wait very very little. However, when I installed Halo 5 on my Xbox One? I was able to eat dinner and watch 2 reruns of the honey mooners with commercials included before it was even at 70%. From Disc. Seriously. I have a time lapsed recording. My Dog went to the bathroom 3 times and confirmed paperwork on the time lapse shows she doesn't have a bladder infection.

The great news here is that Quantum Break is coming out on PC so we can play it in a resolution adopted by society in 2004. Microsoft sure made some blunders. HD-DVD (Oops), Kinect (Oops), An Xbox One gaming console with priority given to TV? Oops. HDMI pass through which causes input lag due to effects rendered without having a game mode option on the Console forcing users to bypass the TV mechanic all together and plug directly into their receiver? Oops. 720p on a game as large as Quantum Break and watching Remedy being forced to tout the Microsoft company tagline? "We are really wanting to enhance gameplay" - yet, it is already reported that the gameplay is floaty and doesn't have any appeal to it, along with UI Lag and control lag when playing. But, that's par for the course for Microsoft with the X1. The good news is, they have time to scrap the X1 and just make a new console altogether. The time is now. They may as well just get it over with before burying themselves (And their exclusive partners) any further than they already have.

@Utnayan: Dang, I didn't realize I stung you that bad. It's ok man, if you don't like facts, there is nothing here we can do to sway your fruitless efforts of trolling. I mean, you can troll all day long, but know that we are not blind to your agenda. You are entertaining us that is for sure. So once you get your big boy pants on, feel free to post back with proof and sources to back up your claim. Until then, we await with baited breath.

The Xbox One, is outselling the Xbox 360, that is a fact backed up with a source:

http://news.xbox.com/2016/01/04/greatest-games-extends-to-2016/

Which has nothing to do with an article you posted from way back in, August? Good lord dude, it is 2016, get with the times. I know that you are a little slow on the wit, but damn Corky, at least bring something to to the table to nibble on. We are starving here.

It truly is a bummer that the performance of the PS4 falls behind the Xbox One in the stand by mode when wanting to get into your games faster as proven by facts and a source:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs42JFiNcyA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3bAQ8crUtw

I am glad that when I install games on my Xbox One, they generally take less than a half hour, and that is from a digital download. In fact, I was playing Tomb Raider: Rise of the Tomb Raider in about 60 seconds, as well as Star Wars Battlefront. I love how the Xbox One now installs the games in the background and lets you play as the remainder installs (just like it did for me in DriveClub). Sooo nice, awwwww yeahhh. More facts.

I am pumped that we will be getting Quantum Break on Microsoft Xbox One, and getting a free copy of Quantum Break for our Microsoft Windows 10 PC, as well as two free games, Alan Wake and Alan Wake American NIghtmare. Hot damn dude, just think of that. For $60 I am getting 4 games and DLC. When I get UC4, I will be getting a single game playable on only one console. Ouch, THAT is gonna leave a mark. And, I don't get any other games or DLC for that price. Oooooohhh...snap....dat smarts.

I am not sure why you are all mad about oops...like Playstation TV (oops!), PlayStation Move (yikes!), PS2 BC on PS3 (oops!), Linux on PS3 (oops!), SIXAXIS (oops!), Playstation Now (lol...huge monetary oops)....but at least we get to play an exclusive every once in awhile on our PS4.

Luckily, there are no issues with the awesome HDMI pass through on the Xbox One. What we do love is not only snapping our PS4 via the HDMI in, but I have it switch with TV as well, and the fact that we don't have to worry about input lag is aces.

What we are glad about, as gamers, is that Quantum Break is getting praised endlessly in the previews for awesome gameplay, awesome graphics and untouched story telling:

http://bgr.com/2016/03/04/quantum-break-preview-xbox-one/

http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/quantum-break-tells-a-story-that-other-games-simply-can-t-1316143

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/225131-quantum-break-is-gorgeous-stuck-at-720p-on-the-xbox-one

http://www.inquisitr.com/2911665/quantum-break-early-impressions-how-does-quantum-break-hold-up-in-its-opening-moments/

http://www.techinsider.io/quantum-break-has-impressive-graphics-2016-2

http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/02/11/quantum-break-is-a-shooter-with-brains

and so many more...just praise after praise of the quality, the shooting mechanics, the glorious graphics, the story, the gameplay...just raving. So glad I am getting this game, it's just going to be amazing.

But hopefully the underpowered PS4 and X1 get scrapped soon for the rumored .5 versions. These two consoles are struggling with 60fps and 900-1080p games. They are just what the doctor ordered.

Good thing we deal with facts on this site. I know all this is going to bury you pretty deep in your hole with all the factual evidence...and I know it will take sometime for your little mind to absorb it....so if you need to sit back....stop your fingers from shaking before tackling that keyboard like a hyena in heat on meth, we understand your delayed response. Just don't let it effect your heart.

In the mean time, I will run in and turn on my PS4 to get me back into my session of TLOU, and run into the kitchen and make an omelet while it gets out of standby mode. Looking forward to some solid clipping with Ellie...and hope I can hear it over the loud ass fan on the PS4.

Oh snap.

@Arkhalipso: Oh man, he (Utnayan) is feeling the burn bad now. He posted an old video of an old game comparing install times to the PS4 (though I never compared to the two...which of course he is grasping at straws), but chose NOT to show the install times for Tomb Raider and Stars Wars (two most recent games that allow you to play the game while it installs like the PS4 does..see Drive Club.

He still is devastated by my epic crush of a response above. I think his injuries might be worse than we first anticipated.

@kvally: I own a one. You're full of shit. The input lag from the hdmi pass through is terrible. I tried my ps4 through it and it is unplayable. Not sure why you want to brag up a piece of plastic. Everything the guy says above is true but it shouldn't make you feel any different about owning a one. It's good to have if you've already invested in xbox in the past and have a library to carry over. The controller is the best controller to ever exist in my opinion. The slight power the PS4 has over it is negligible, and the ability to use external hard drives is a plus.

However, the exclusives in the present and future look better for PS4, and the fact that multiplatform games perform better on it than the xbox, along with having the shareplay feature make it the better platform in my opinion. Also games are a tad cheaper on PS4 as they don't charge tax on digital games unlike Microsoft, and the sales tend to be better and more frequent. Again, none of this really matters if the X1 is your only system. It holds its own. Unless you have a PC then it is basically worthless. The announcement of bringing most of its big titles over devalues it big time. I would say the same for the PS4, except the PC won't be getting Uncharted or Bloodborne or MLB the Show or Until Dawn or The Last Guardian anytime soon.

@coreyr84: Well, you are completely full of pure hog shit. I have 3 Xbox One's, and 2 PS4s, and never once have had a SINGLE issue with the HDMI pass through. Same goes for everyone I have spoken to that does the same thing. You are just fabricating a story to suit your agenda. Everything the guy above has stated is a complete and utter bullshit lie.

Exclusives in the past, present and future look substantially better on the Xbox One of course. Luckily, the ability to share games with gold is a FAR better feature than the share play, which is for a dismal hour at a time. With Xbox, you can play the games together, and there is no time limit. Good lord.

If one prefers PC, then they have no reason for a PS4 (and most likely not an X1 either)

Watch this video from Cinema Blend where they compare install times of the PS4 version of Need for Speed compared to Xbox One. He was playing for 50 minutes before the Xbox One completed it's basic install of the same game. 50 minutes.

@Utnayan: Even if it was a graphical masterpiece you would still be in here saying the same thing because its on xbox one. The game looks good, not incredible, but not 'absolute garbage' as you so eloquently put it. Play it on pc by all means but people like you who have to slander other versions of the game to make yourself feel good about yours are just stupid.

@Utnayan: I basically agree with you, but I'm more concerned with art design and I think they did a great job. You also have to consider what happens to the visuals during these streams.

I definitely think 720p is too low though. Not too low to play, but I just think it should be higher. I'm also concerned about frame rate, especially with the time manipulation gameplay. I just like the smoothness of at least 60fps.

I also think a lot of this depends on screen size and vision. I didn't care as much about resolution when I played on my 24 inch monitor in my room. Now I'm using a screen almost 3 times that size and many people have larger screens. Resolution definitely matters, but of course gameplay is more important. I just like having both.

@PS2fweak: Agreed. 720p60 would at least make up for some of that - but according to Eurogamer, it was also having struggles just keeping up with that at 30 Fps. It was impacting input lag, stuttering, poor shadow scaling, etc. It is really going to suck seeing Remedy take a bullet on this one for the lack of hardware MS put out. So hopefully the PC version will do well. The XBox One Install market base is half of PS4's currently - so I am guessing they are kicking themselves for signing the wrong contract.

@kvally: Not too far off. Least common denominator development isn't giving PC's that much of a leg up anyway with regards to anything but 4k, which still isn't capable with high end video cards for the most part. You can build a PC that handles most of these games as a result of the above for 600.

@Zicoroen: Give me a break with this apologetic horseshit. I watched DVD's in 2002, that doesn't mean I do not want to experience the same content in 1080p with Lossless audio. Enough of this "720p was good enough for you" bullshit drivel. I am tired of it. Put out a console that is a next generation console and quit fucking up this industry with your developer/entitled scapegoat nonsense. Jesus H Jenny in a wheelchair.

@Utnayan: the problem is that a console that can do that would cost twice as much as an xbox one or a ps4, for a generation of consoles to do that everyone's console would need to be around 700-800 dollars, you can't have top notch hardware with a cheap price, it's just impossible, that's why consoles work with cheaper and older hardware.

@Utnayan: Actually there is a noticeable difference between 720p and 1080p at times but most of the times the differences are quite minor and barely affect enjoyment of the game/movie.

Personally I'm fine with good resolution (1080p is my preferred, I have 2 x 4K monitors at work and they're not the leap I imagined with 4K content so not really worth it imo) and good steady fps - over 30fps (maybe over 45fps is good enough) for me.

I've tried many game tests with varying resolutions/fps/console/pc with people who are gamers and not, older and teen gamers and most never got it consistently right as which is better - some picked console over pc, some pc over console etc. some saw no diffs at diff fps, diff resolutions, diff games had diff results - tv vs monitor vs projector also made a diff in results.

This is all unofficial testing of course, but showed me that there is no consistent rule for what is "great" graphics. It really depends on case by case basis.

@fanirama: Some people still haven't moved beyond placing their Xbox One's or PS4's past their 32" display in a computer room. Obviously it will be heavily environment based but either way, this specific title shit the bed. I haven't even mentioned that they already false advertised 6 months ago saying it would be 1080p.
