Nintendo Switch Outsells PS4 And Xbox In The US In 2018 - GS News Update

Lots of people bought Switches.

The NPD Group has released its 2018 report, stating that the Nintendo Switch outsold both the PS4 and Xbox One for the year. Sony and Microsoft did sell more consoles than the year prior, and in fact, overall hardware sales increased by 8% in 2018. Switch sales were boosted by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which was the best-selling game of December.

Good for Nintendo, though I'm not sure how significant it is to outsell a console that's long since reached a high saturation point in the market or one that pretty much shot itself in both feet from the beginning of this generation. The Switch is a damn good concept of a hybrid console though and certainly deserves to do impressive numbers. The industry is lucky to have one of the big three march to its own drum instead of engaging in a power race.
