Meet Marvel's X-Force | Deadpool 2

Deadpool joins forces with fellow mutants to form X-Force in a fight against Cable. Learn more about the comic book origins of the team and all the characters to expect in the Deadpool sequel.

What's that? Marvel's getting another team of movie superheroes? In case the Avengers and the X-Men simply weren't enough for you, get ready to meet the X-Force when they assemble in Deadpool 2. This is no run-of-the-mill group of mutants, though. The X-Force has a storied comic book history that stretches back to 1991 that will likely serve them well when it comes to fighting at Deadpool's side.

The team was created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, the duo behind Deadpool, as an alternative to the New Mutants--an offshoot of the X-Men that first debuted in 1982. Interestingly, Deadpool studio 20th Century Fox also has a New Mutants movie coming to theaters in 2019.

There will be one major difference between the X-Force featured in Deadpool 2 and the group from the comics, though. Cable won't serve as their leader on the big screen. Instead, the version of the character played by Josh Brolin is actually the movie's villain. That likely won't stop the team from their usual methods though--getting violent and murdering the evil that gets in their way.

Thankfully, though Cable isn't joining the team at this point, there are some familiar faces on the X-Force. Bedlam (Terry Crews), Domino (Zazie Beetz) and Shatterstar (Lewis Tran) all have history as members of the group in the comics, while Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Colossus (Stefan Kapičić), and Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgård) all bring their individual talents to the team. Then there's Peter (Rob Delaney), who doesn't have a comic book past or bring much to the table. Good luck, Peter.

Take a look at the video above to find out more about the X-Force as you prepared to see Deadpool 2. Then make sure to check out the movie when it hits theaters on May 18.
