I have been saying this exactly same thing in my other comments here in gamespot and people comparing it to DOOM. Stop that, don't compare bethesda and EA. EA LOVES to show off their games to do PR and if they haven't shown it means the game is not ready.

And i don't think the game will get delayed because EA will make bioware make the deadline, they don't care if game is complete or not. All i know is this is gonna be last ME game and EA is looking to make money just from Mass effect franchise name.

There's a logical flaw in the delay argument here. BioWare issued a 3.21 release date 72 days before launch, after having been reluctant to pin the date down.

When Dragon Age Inquisition was finally delayed by 6 weeks, it was still 79 days to its original launch. Why would BioWare set a date so soon before launch if they were not 100% confident that they would hit it?

I like Lead Designer Ian Frazier's tweet: "5 years. Definitely not rushed.". Now the concerns about mechanics and dialogue are fair game because the marketing surge isn't here yet and mileage varies about those things, but the marketing strategy appears to be responsible for the last-minute reveal, not a rush.

I remember the Danny days when The Lobby used to consist of real coherent discussions and not overdose of "like" in one sentence.

As a huge fan of the ME series as a whole, I don't get why people have such high expectations for the gameplay. I play all of BWs games for their story and characters. not because their combat and advancement mechanics are revolutionary. Their visual design, sound design, and narrative structures are what is on display.

As long as this game is stable with playable game systems and a great story, I am good.

Also, I guess I am in the minority that has actually enjoyed all of their games since DAO and ME. I never feel cheated for investing my time in a BW game. DA2 was as close to disappointed as got but I actually liked the combat and cast was rad, I can forgive recycled environments, ME,ME2 and DAO all recycled their assets as well, it is par for the course.

It can go either way , they could be secretive so as not to spoil the game or trip themselves up ( mass effect 3 suffered from a lot of promises made that never really materialized) or they are being quiet coz they know its crap.

Personally I'm worried as all the combat seems to show the ryder dude going rambo, there is no squad mate coordination or team work, I am getting a very heavy destiny vibe from this game.

I can understand your apprehension even if I don't necessarily agree with it. A few points:

1. You didn't mention this but the game's original release date was Fall/Autumn of last year so it has been delayed for polishing.

2. voice acting and lip syncing are always on the latter end of the development cycle. The animations aren't bad and by that I mean choppy. I can't see them looking more realistic than they do know but at least they won't look contextually wrong like Ryder smiling in that tense situation.

3. I guess it's subjective but I think the combat looks amazing. The switch to open/more dynamic combat is intentional as they were trying to emulate ME3 style combat in an ME1 enironment, specifically the multiplayer where most people used soft cover as a preference in higher difficulties due to the added mobility but the option is still there to take hard cover.

4. The biggest problem with DA:I as you said was the sidequests and lack of engaging content in the world. The majority of content were collectibles/numbered objectives and the narrative in each region aside from the few Main Quests seemed incredibly lackluster ie. You engaged conersations in a zoomed out perspective and there wasn't that cinematic style storytelling that we're used to now of which was abundant in the MQs. But DA:I was also a cross-platform title, hindered by the range of consoles they were catering to. ME:A isn't held back by such restrictions so we have more reason to be optimistic, especially since they've had time to process feedback from other games.

5. The marketing was purposely subdued. Most likely taking lessons from DA:I especially considering a lot of the planned and revealed features for that game were cut in development (customisable outposts, dynamic choices like in Crestwood etc). We haven't seen much footage but if you care to look in the right places there is a tonne of information.

6. I guess the only disconcerting thing are the high profile departures. I can't comment on that but I'm hoping it was all circumstancial.

Anyway I can't remember where I heard but apparently there's going to be a good 15 minutes or so solid gameplay released soon so fingers crossed.

The longer the developers take to make a game, the more polished the product that's produced!

A good example of this was Duke Nukem Forever!

That was in production for like... 10 billion years! Look how great that game was...

I actually liked they didn't do a lot of footage, much less spoilers. Don't understand the point of comparing it with other games that have no relationship to it whatsoever. Witcher 3 is one game, Mass Effect is another. If your a fan of the series you know what to expect, and they have given a ton of details on game informer, explained exploration and more. So maybe read about info of the game first too.

It looks a lot less 'Frontier space exploration with a mysteriously intriguing and well paced plot' and a lot more "Hey, could you help me get across that big valley because I need to find and scan some funky space plants, oh no! some angry aliens! *shooting and space magic* *Returns to base after*

I bet it ends up having the emotional impact of a flaccid celery.

@HedleyLamarr: Well realistically a game could be in development for many years and still be "rushed" to release. 4 Years doesn't mean a damn thing without context, it could still be a bare bones idea after 4 years of development (I doubt this game is, but just saying, it's possible for any development, time doesn't guarantee quality!)

@HedleyLamarr: So that's one game they haven't rushed. Clearly they couldn't possibly have a habit of rushing games if there's one game they didn't. Wait, no. Learn how to argue.

@davidhin: It doesn't have to be rushed to lack polish. If the developer isn't happy with the product but the publisher says to launch it, it's rushed (regardless of stated launch date).

Wasn't rushed if they got a deadline extension. Same goes for ME1, 2 and 3. Not rushed, because all of them were delayed.

Honestly, I think the game looks awesome. The combat was a lot more fluid, the atmosphere and surrounding environment is beautiful, and as far as I'm concerned, I've got no major issues with the dialogue. I don't get how you guys have come to the conclusion that the game seems unfinished or rushed...

@daddysacks: You are joking me man... Inquisition was a rushed game. Rushes and Arcade BS was Dragon Age 2, it was a pitiful crap of a title and that was rushed to cash on the DA name NOT Inquisition. Look at the rating for Inquisition again and not the game site rating but that of all the players. It is a beast of a game!

Looking forward but not impressed at all. Game doesn't offer anything what we haven't seen before. Same mechanics, same spells, same humanoids. And who have thought that even in Andromeda there are humanoids speaking Bossy English, really? Pure lack of imagination how creatures can be intelligent in a different way and their look makes me to think that MA:Andromeda is nothing more but 100% cliche. Oh yeah, Humans flew to Andromeda and found.. Earth's gravity there too.. cliche cliche. Even I could invent better creatures (please... no more humanoids. Milky Way have too many of them already), better mechanics and atmosphere how it should look and feel.

Witcher 3 was criticized for the lack of combat mechanics (yeah, some people wanted Geralt to be a Medieval three dimensional fancy Ninja), but Andromeda so far looks more disappointing.

Resume, I don't expect Andromeda to be even close to the threshold left by Witcher 3

@verysalt:Three dimensional fancy ninja? I would have settled for combat that didn't have garbage feedback, nor shoddy hitboxes. Or better yet, wasn't just outright boring. For all of the things it does right, the combat is just terrible in comparison, and you spend at least half of the time doing it.

@Isaac_Redfield:

Probably it's just me but I never understood why people disliked Witcher's 3 combat mechanics. I absolutely enjoyed (albeit I played on hardest difficulty) and up to lvl 10 it was challenging. Please can you explain me, what I should have expected more from a medieval knight because in my opinion he was already more flexible and energetic than a man with a sword could be.

Realistically medieval battles were outright boring. If you are lucky - you die quickly, if not - you die because of wounds and exhaustion. The biggest sht began 2-3 hours in the battle when everybody are tired and don't have enough energy to kill each other in one blow so they start slashing and bashin each other until they bleed out.

@verysalt: The good old "difficulty" argument. :( Death March doesn't do anything for difficulty other than make the already weak combat tedious. By level 15 or so it's about as easy as Normal and BaBB. The "realistic" argument is tired and flat out nonsense too. They never tried to make Geralt realistic, and they've cited time and again how the Arkham and Souls games "influenced" them. For all of their influence, the combat doesn't come close to being as good as either. Realism is tossed out the window entirely anyway when you include Signs and Mutagens.

@verysalt: The weird thing is that the groundwork for some fun combat was there, and all it really would have taken would have been some minor tweaks, but they seemed to think it was fine as is, because "no one plays RPGs for combat"...

1. Hitboxes were a mess, especially with faster moving enemies like Nekkers.

2. The tactile feedback was way off. It always felt like Geralt was either slicing through jello, or whacking on a piece of wood, with nothing in between. The way enemies would react to being hit also made them seem extra floaty or like a wall.

3. On top of the feedback, the animations and hit stun (or lack thereof) really hurt the overall feel and flow too, and Geralt simultaneously flowed around like a ballerina, but also felt herky-jerky due to his swing animations being so long.

In a world where both Dragon's Dogma and the Souls series exist, there's no excuse for combat like this anymore. It's barely above Risen 3 or Fable levels of jank.

I hope not, we have waited so long now, I'd much rather wait another 6-9 months for Mass PErfection!! I wish Bioware would put the people that are leaving over stress on remastering the original trilogy in 4k!! It is so weird they refuse to bring a game about the future into the modern era.

From BioWare dev tweets, they are clearly working long hours playing 'whack-a-bug'. They didn't have to launch March 21, they could have said May or June and still be in the Spring. The big difference appears to be the held back marketing approach, perhaps to avoid a 'No Man's Sky' style promotion, perhaps to avoid the slight 'over-promise' of Mass Effect 3. Understandable to not foul the marketing for Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 end of last year, but they can now comfortably let rip...
