I've only played the first game, but I found it a bit dull. There is more to a game like Baldur's Gate 2 than just old school RPG mechanics. The story and NPCs were a lot of fun. I couldn't find that quite as much in Divinity Original Sin. I was also a bit annoyed by the main characters, their appearances, and the choice of voice sets. It had some fun and strategic encounters. Perhaps my sense of humor is just not in line with the more mellow one of the current generation. They are very monotone with everything and seem to think it's so wonderful.
With garbage publishers owning most of the good old IPs from the 90's it's not often you get a group of free developers like this that can be left alone to produce quality and not modern console mediocrity.
Oh give me a break horizon zero dawn is the best rpg for 2017, if that didnt make you fall in love with rpgs then you are lost and will never be found.
@Chernnunos: no the problem is the definition of what an RPG is has been lost over the years so any game with a talent system or leveling is an RPG when it's really just RPG elements (which is still wrong but better than calling it an RPG)
