WB Montreal's Gotham Knights is rumored to feature the Court of Owls, but what is the villainous group all about and why are they important?

The wait is over and, finally, WB Montreal is set to officially reveal its next game, the long-rumored Gotham Knights. While we don't have any concrete details just yet, rampant rumors, small teases, and a decent amount of speculation have helped fans arrive at the conclusion that it will involve the Court of Owls.

The Court of Owls is a fairly recent addition to the pantheon of Batman--and DC--villains, but the impact they had was significant. In a short amount of time, the shadowy cabal turned Batman's world upside down. But, who are they and what are their objectives? Before they potentially step out of the shadows and into the light as part of Gotham Knights, we've put together a crash course on the secret society.

From their earliest days to the climactic battle in Gotham City, we'll take you through everything you need to know about the Court of Owls. By the time you're done watching, you'll know why they posed such a threat to Batman and why they could do it again in the upcoming game.

If you haven't been keeping up with the latest on Gotham Knights, numerous teases have been released for the upcoming Batman game. The game is set to make its public debut during the DC Fandome event, which will begin at 10:30 AM PT on August 22. Later that day, at 5 PM PT, Rocksteady will show off its Suicide Squad game with a panel titled "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League."
