Aardman is one of the most talented animation studios in the world, having won countless awards and critical praise for its unique stop-motion style and beloved characters like Wallace and Gromit, Morph, and Shaun the Sheep.
It has also dipped its clay toes into video games, but most of its projects thus far have been small-scale flash games, mobile apps, educational games, or licensing deals with other developers. Its latest project, 11-11: Memories Retold, on the other hand, represents the first time Aardman has brought development of a console game in-house.
Over the course of our mini-documentary, we explore why Aardman wanted to make 11-11, why now was the time to make its first in-house console title, and how on Earth an Oscar-winning Animation studio makes a video game. Take a look in the video above and let us know your thoughts on the acclaimed studio making waves in the video game space in the comments! What other games would you like to see Aardman make? And are there any other film studios you'd like to make a game?
Memories Retold stars Elijah Wood and Sebastian Koch, and its PS4, Xbox One, and PC release date is set for November 9. For more on the game, check out 17 minutes of 11-11: Memories Retold gameplay.
