Final Fantasy VII - Original vs. Remake

im ok with this kind of combat, understand that turn based combat will not appeal with everyone

The original just can't be topped, a part of it's greatness for me was the mute characters, their voices and reactions were left to my imagination. Nomuras modern characters make me cringe whenever they open their mouth. Especially the english voices but the japanese as well. Besides, FFVII came at a time when story-wise, very few games (the superior Xenogears came one year after) were close to it. The game made people incredibly invested in it's characters. I just can't see it make the same splash in 2016-17 except maybe visually I guess.

Sigh.....I miss the memories I had with this game.

remastered of this looks awesome and the combat system is in realtime instead of that turn based crap

Add japanese dubs with subs and i am golden. American dubs never feel right with anime style games.

If you want the original battle system go play the original game. Simple as that.

Not sure if I want to replay FFVII...it's been so long it probably won't feel the way it did when I first played it. Looks good though, although that voice acting...Japanese voices, please? Also, Barret looks a bit too generic. If you don't show his arm he would just look like a regular merc with sunglasses that don't do him any favours...

For these who only look at graphics they will be happy, but for anyone that wants game play its not looking good. About the only way It could get worse is if they throw the stupid sphere grid in instead of the real leveling up system.

I know its only a trailer, but it looks better than what we have seen of FF XV!

The little box showing the battle commands, Attack, Magic , Items etc, looks like they will be staying with the original turn based combat, so HALLELUJAH!

Why did you rushed the video so much? I'd rather wait another day and watch a full review on all scenes in detail. Oh well, I guess to Youtube we go, again...

So its just FF VII with FF XIII graphics, voices, and battlesystem? Good thing I didn't get my hopes up to high for this.

I just had a scary thought, are we going to see transvestite Cloud in full polygon glory?

A lot of my worries have been assuaged... like, I'm glad the original music is there (albeit orchestrated now), I'm glad it's not radically different (same bosses, side-characters (Jesse, Biggs etc), same sequence of events. I just hope this is how the rest of the game plans out.

I also hope they keep all the deep story history... like what happened with professor Gast and Aeris' mom in the North.

The combat looks like they've just ported the FF15 engine/system across, which is what I was expecting. I mean, c'mon, having 3 guys standing still in a line facing 3 enemies standing still in a line, all waiting for their atb bars to fill up.... that would look terrible with those graphics.

Overall, I'm happier. But the voice acting.. urgh. Barret especially.

Why can't Square do voice acting right? Just give me fucking text and let me turn that shit off if you're not going to even bother doing something good. It is hard to explain but they always sound like they're talking in a studio and being dubbed over video, rather than actually on location. Everything sounds so fake and like it was recorded in sound bytes for a cheesy American Saturday morning cartoon or something.

None of them say anything natural either, all just bullshit that makes no sense, I remember FF13 was just full of lines like "heroes don't need plans" and who talks like that and says crap like that to each other?

Ni No Kuni is the only JRPG I've played that gets the voice acting right. https://youtu.be/OVQXiWPu-Q8?t=135 Drippy was so obviously written and voiced acted by a Welsh person who was allowed to talk naturally. He wasn't recorded by someone who had to say direct Japanese translations that made no sense over here in English speaking nations.

Another classic lost and another fan not picking it up. Graphically they improved it, but gameplay-wise, i'm not touching this modern version.

Not getting my hopes up that they went through the trouble, in order to put more than one battle system into the game.

I like Cloud's Smash Bros design better, I feel it's more true to the original.

I always wondered if Jesse was a man or a woman. Couldn't tell anything with those horrible character models. Hell I couldn't tell between 70% of the NPCs if they were men or women.

Color me exited! Can't wait for this.

Anyone else notice Braver/Big Shot being used? And the red Limit bars. Also the likely ability to switch between characters in battle...seems like itll be as close to ATB as us fans of it could' ve hoped for.

I wish Barret didn't look so damn lame. Make him thicker and lose the stupid sunglasses.
