@NeOmeGamer Nothing is "perfect"... It's ridiculous how many 10/10 are given out when in reality it never actually should occur. The explanation to why this STILL happens is this: "Nothing can be OBJECTIVELY perfect, but a whole lot more of things can be SUBJECTIVELY perfect..." This strengthens the fact that reviews are subjective NOT objective. If reviews were TRULY objective not a single game could be perfect, and most games couldn't even be reviewed because games are SUBJECTIVE as with all other forms of entertainment. Entertainment can never be "reviewed" objectively... Because it's a SUBJECTIVE experience.

Or maybe I'm just arguing what I feel is a legitimate point. Bigotry is something I feel extremely strongly about and disregarding any opinion that does not match your own comes extremely close to being that.

I also (like pretty much any games journalist) realize that varied opinions on a subjective matter are extremely important and valuable.

Game reviews are not objective, they are by and large subjective. I explained why (again) in a comment just below.

With that in mind, 8/10 DOES reflect the state of the game to HIM. Maybe not to me, to you, or to anyone else. But to HIM. And it's a damn good score at that. It reflects exactly what he is saying - it's a great game with some minor flaws.

Again, if you feel the review is not thorough enough that's fine, but to jump to the conclusion that he has some sort of agenda or simply wants publicity based on a 1-2 arbitrary score difference of a game you have never played is just utterly ridiculous and unreasonable.

Please don't presume to know what is going on in the head of someone you have never even met with no evidence whatsoever, it's arrogant and malicious.

The shit-storm that caused Tom's review is not bacuase his review differs but because it doesn't reflect the state of game and is solely written to cripple metacritic. He's rhetoric is flawed and there is nothing that suggest the last of us is short of flawless, not to mention deserves mere 8/10 in this age and era. The fact he was trolling us all is to get hits and the hits he gets. But don't tell me that idiot who gave fukin Mario 10/10 can honestly judge games like that objectively. He done that deliberately, knowing this game is perfect and his voice will be lost amongst other 'tens'. so to artificially differentiate his review from the avalanche of others he scored it below that perfect mark, leaving gamespot on the spot of controversy, and as controversy goes "doesn't matter what they say about you, as long as they keep talking about you."

@NeOmeGamer @Jamoid Thing is, you're expecting angry, offensively put opinions to be respected and taken seriously when they cannot afford anyone else that same courtesy. If an opinion revolves solely around the basis that every other opinion is invalid, does it really have any value?

I have absolutely no issue with someone complaining about a review not being thorough enough, but to flat out deny someone else's opinion on a subjective matter simply because it doesn't match your own or the status quo is extremely arrogant and narrow-minded.

Not to mention how little his review even differs from others or the fact that none of the people complaining have even played the game.

It's just flat out ridiculous.

@Jamoid Well, people don't like it when something isn't the way they want it to be (Or when someone doesn't agree with their opinions)... Be it opinions, clothes, games, food, etc... I think it has grounds in human nature, some people though have learned to understand that different people think DIFFERENTLY and can respect their way of thinking... Other still can't, and that is the real core of the argument and why people in the first place act aggressively against each other. :/

Also Im not even sure how the process of consent works here, the people who's comments are being read out and being insulted might not even know this is happening or might not want it to be on here and made it public, who knows maybe there is something in the terms and conditions that allows them to do it without consent.
