Feedbackula is just good fun. Trolls will be trolls. Getting offended by an internet comment is childish. Personal attacks on the internet is like walking pass a piece of crap on the ground. It might smell bad, but keep walking & it won't bother you.

I've rarely watched Feedbackula because of the platform it gave to the absolute dregs of internet commenting. The vast majority of most comment sections on any site is absolute garbage at best, despicable hate speech at worst. I broke down and watched this episode because I was curious to see how this show in particular would address the classless rubbish that overran the comments on the GTA V review.

It was incredibly refreshing to see you send a "F*ck you" to those types of comments. The beauty of engaging a community is that many people can have a voice in a discussion over a shared interest. Everyone feels that their opinion matters. But it is not an equal playing field, and for those who can't express opinions or engage in discourse without showing some civility, or at the very least, basic human dignity, I join you in saying "F*ck you." Because the voice of those types of comments really doesn't matter. It adds nothing to and, even worse, actively damages the community.

Although I do not agree with personal threats or hatred against the reviewer, I do agree that Carolyn's opinion in this case does not acknowledge one of GTA's most prevalent themes: satire. The entire idea of the game is to portray the lives of criminals and mock popular American culture and unfortunately, misogyny and sexism are an active part of our society. The fact that Carolyn underrates the game based on those remarks is quite unfair and means that she doesn't understand the premise of GTA. GTA is a look at how reality is in an extreme and funny way. if you don't like it then look around you. The world is full of feminism, the world has corrupt government organisations. These are facts. It shoves the truth in your face and laughs at the stupidity of people for not seeing or doing anything about it. By satirizing women as sex objects and filler, R* has essentially done feminist politics a great service. The game's moral ethos is, almost always, inversely proportional to real life. It celebrates aspects off human behavior and culture that we generally find repellent. Carolyn has missed the point entirely here. The on-the-nose satire isn't poorly judged or mishandled, but deliberately juvenile. Deducting an entire point for ideological differences is an insufficient reason.

I don't get it? Why the hell do people have their panties in a bunch about the score? What do you gain if the score is a 10? Am I missing something, do we get some sort of royalty? I don't even think Rockstar gives 2 flying F**ks what gamespot has to say. They're too busy yucking it up all the way to the bank. I say F**k reviews, if the game interests you go ahead and try it. Don't sit around moping about a review of a game you did not help develop. If you think a game got wrongfully reviewed, support it by buying it and then give it your own opinion. You're stupid to take someone else word for it, especially from reviewers that have only 3 days to play the game and write a review without finishing it (unless the game is obviously complete garbage).

Your reaction strikes me as emotional and oddly speculative. The logic is that they were less honest because they weren't "persuaded"? Huh? I don't get it.

I agree, humans should be ashamed of their behavior. We need to treat each other with more respect. As a human I am ashamed of what we are becoming. Greedy, vain, self serving jerks. As a human I am sorry for the behavior of the rest of us.

The show should be about comments that made you laugh and comments that were insightful. The abuse should simply be ignored just like all idiots should be.

In my humble opinion, it does seem as if Carolyn has said the same thing almost every article I've read and she is lobbying for a change in gaming. This is fine but I tend to think of reviews as facts about games and more of a general prediction of how it will be received and the reviewers opinion should not be of a higher priority than gameplay graphics story etc. otherwise a person thinking about buying a game wouldn't find it of much use in swaying them one way or another. For example the way GTA portrays black people is, in my opinion, borderline racist but this is not mentioned because Carolyn would obviously not relate to this, which is again fine but as it does not seem to bother her the misogyny may not bother others in the same way or they may simply not notice it.

Consistency is also a big issue. GTA IV with a 10 and GTA V with 9 is confusing when V out performs IV in every way while also innovating the third person open world experience.

This goes back to that article that someone wrote on how they felt the latest Tomb Raider was a failure of a story. You know how people responded? Here are the only 2 responses you'll ever seen when someone questions the subject matter of a popular game:

1. The game made lot's of money so shut up, in your face, you're a failure blah blah blah!

2. It's just a video game!

The first, in how it misses the bloody point of the author's article; doesn't really surprise me. I'm not going to go into how a hyped-up experience failing to deliver should be ridiculed. I'm not going to go point out the difference between financial success and review success. The only kind of comment that really makes me hang my head in shame is the simple argument that "It's just a video game". Because apparently as a video game we should have lower standards, right? If someone decides to tell a story through the unique medium that is interactive entertainment; we should give them a free pass when the story is crap, right? Because it's just a video game so what can you do? It's really depressing when the people who've grown up with this medium are the ones invalidating it. And the actual belief that "they're trying to take my Dead or Alive and Mortal Kombat away!" makes me want to face-palm so hard that my hand goes through my head and hopefully slaps some sense into you. Film is considered an art form, gents, that doesn't mean Michael Bay's Transformers is an art movie. Nor should it have to be.

Whether or not you agree with Petit's professional opinion of GTA V's subject matter isn't the point I'm making. I'm fighting for her right to make it an actual DISCUSSION to begin with, without users trying to invalidate her issues on the basis that "it's just a video game". The reason for this kind of self-defeating backlash boggles my mind actually. If you don't care about the game's subject matter then why get upset when other people question it? It doesn't affect your enjoyment; why are you trying to shut her up? With that, it begs the question; how is this medium going to be taken seriously by the ignorant masses who don't even want to understand it, when we, the gamers don't want it to be anything more than a simple plaything? I hope you realize you're insulting RockStar by arguing that the story (you know, that thing they pride themselves on as much as the gameplay) doesn't matter. I don't always agree with this show, but Johnny raises a valid point, one that I've been trying to elaborate on back when the Tomb Raider article was getting so much flak. I guess we're in the wrong? Silly me, for a moment I thought video games were a valid medium of artistic expression.

@joshmonus so you're saying other sites gave a 10 because Rockstar spend money on ads with them? Oh thanks, now it makes sense why the game scored so well since it was not that special.

and btw... GS had a lot of GTAV ads, a lot, to the point people ware accusing GS of taking money from Rockstar, apparently you missed all of those.
