Wow, this brings back so many memories. Bugging my parents for 1 more quarter when I was younger just to get one more game in at round table pizza. This is a franchise that needed to return to it's brutally violent fast-paced roots, it they look to be doing just that. I am not a fighting game fan but will be looking forward to giving this a go. Looks great. BTW: Kung Lao's fatality FTW.
The game looks horrible. I would never bother learning how to play this or practice/care about getting good at this stupid game. I can tell already it's going to be a waste of time that would only be fun for a single rainy afternoon as a one time rental.
Ohh bigtruck, you're silly. You complain that "if a skull fractures they should pass out" and "REALISM PLEASE", yet you're perfectly okay with other aspets like the fact that Sub Zero can just freeze people on command? Or that there's cyborg ninjas fighting wanna-be movies stars? You can't really complain about a lack of reallism when it's a VIDEO GAME, and a video game that's always hallmarked surreal combat to begin with. I think you're reaching with your complaints.
I for one am disapointed. I've loved MK through most of their changes but this one could be better. #1 The "x ray" moves are RIDICULOUS and should be taken out. You don't need to show me what's happening inside the body because THEIR BODIES DON'T REFLECT IT THROUGHOUT THE MATCH. They should guys skulls fracturing but they don't pass out. The guy's arm breaks? So why can they still punch? Instead, why not just have REALISTIC BODY DAMAGE that effects you for the remainder of the match? If I break your leg, you lose your ability to kick. If I break your back, you can't walk no more. #2 The fatalities are still ridiculous. Scorpion's looked good, but, Kung Lao's looks stupid. REALISM PLEASE????
This looks great!! I already own most of the other MKs. I will definitely buy this. I also like how the characters look all beat up and hurt after a fight.
Man, Ed always seems so nice; I'd like to meet him. Game looks awesome, very glad with all the things I've been seeing lately. I've watched this video quite a few times lol.
@ ScaredySquirrel...that's not true. According to Boon they made the decision to go 2d plane prior to Street Fighters release (watch the interview of him on Giantbomb). And the animations aren't that close to the style of the old games. I played MK 2 (the uber hard arcade version on psn) for kicks and the animations in this game seem to stick with the less staccato movements that they used in Mk Vs. Dc.
I get really critical when they bring back old franchises to try and buy us out with nostalgia, but this looks like it's being made by people who really want it to be authentic. Wish they made the visuals a bit more lifelike though, still has that cartoony sort of feel. Wait and see!
