Cyberpunk 2077 is a stunning game… if you're playing it on the right systems. It's being hailed as "the new Crysis" on PC, and you'll need a powerful graphics card to be able to run CD Projekt Red's latest at its highest settings. But little footage of the game was shown on console pre-release.

Now that Cyberpunk 2077 has been released, we can finally dig deeper into its console versions. In this video, we compare the game running on PlayStation 5 to the base PlayStation 4 model to see just how much difference Sony's brand new console makes. It should be noted that the version running on PS5 is actually the PS4 version of the game, playable through backwards compatibility. A patch to upgrade the game for PlayStation 5 will be released next year.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia.

Gameplay-wise, I didn’t notice THAT horrible of pop-in textures. When I first read about that issue, I was remembering how bad the pop-in was of GTA IV was at launch - the game would pause so entire sections of highway could load in when transitioning between the islands!

Graphically, the city looks awesome in both versions. Whoever thinks it looks like crap obviously hasn’t played games on any system before the PS4/Xbone.

As for those cutscenes, that quality is definitely disconcerting. How did the game get approved for release with that kind of issue?

I’m going to still plan on buying it, but I think I’ll wait until they have patched it more next year. Maybe it will be running flawlessly by the time I get my hands on a PS5...

Playing on PS5 and I cried a little when I saw the texture of a slice of pizza on a table. It looked liked blurry cardboard doodoo. I was like hot damn. The level of fine detail of tlou2 and demon souls got me spoiled.
