18 Things You Didn't Know About Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s sandbox is shaping up in both familiar and unexpected ways, and there’s a lot you can do that you might not know.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta was a great chance for veteran Call of Duty players to put this game's sandbox to the test. In this video, we are going over 18 things that we learned, some of which you might not know. It’s time to grab our Tacticals, Lethals, Killstreaks, vehicles, and guns to see how well this shooter holds up to the 2019 version’s attention to detail.

You’ll discover some new things in this video, like the fact that you’ve already played on the Warzone 2.0 map. We’ll look at how weapon reload animations change based on what and how many bullets you have in your gun, and how animations will also change if you have a throwing knife equipped or if you take down an opponent standing vs. on the ground. We’ll see what can and can’t be attached to vehicles like the Trophy System, C4, Proximity Mines, Shock Sticks, and how other gear like DDOS impacts them. We’ll also explore new movement and climbing mechanics on vehicles to see if you can hang onto them or get at enemy drivers from the top hatch. We’ll look at multiple gadgets and their alternate uses, like how Loadout Drops can get you to higher ground, Tactical Insertion can be used in the water, and how some gadgets like Proximity Mines float to the surface while Thermite and Drill Charges fizzle out when wet. You can even combine Field Upgrades like the Recon Drone with C4 to deliver explosive packages to enemy snipers. Finally, we’ll show you how to drill charge enemies above or below you, dolphin dive out of two-story windows, and see enemies that can’t see you using the right throwables and a thermal scope.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PS5, and PC. It has a tiered launch with campaign a week early for pre-orders, then multiplayer, then the free-to-play battle royale Warzone 2.0 coming out November 16, and eventually a raid mode.
