a cult classic thanks to a dedicated community who has brought this game to its full potential

User Rating: 9 | Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines PC
***Please notice this review is based on the "true patch" version which is a community patch which solo intension is to fix bugs and glitches***

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines sucks you into its deep kindred society and teaches you about how the modern vampire blends in with the mortal society in the best RPG style.

before the game start you can select op to several vampire clans, each with their own set of powers and abilities such as invisibility, blood magic, super strength etc. You will be able to customize your character as you play the game.

once you have created your character you'll find yourself tossed into the kindred society knowing little on the rules and vampire customs.
but as you play you'll meet people who will help you while other may seem to exploit you in order to further their own agenda.
paying attention to whats being said and reading whats in between the lines is important for your own survival as you can't trust anyone.
What you say and do in this game can have consequences for you in the end of the game.

you'll be put on a set of missions and side quest in this game and the missions are variated and has numerous of ways of accomplishing these mission, which is fighting, sneaking, or simply being a smooth operator
and each style can sometimes reward you in different ways.
and after having played through this game so many times I still discover new items and ways to reaching my goal.

when it comes to combat this game may seem to have a problem.
combat can be carried out with firearms or melee weapons, while melee combat is implemented flawlessly because the melee combat feels so sleek, firearms seems to be underpowered.
this may be true in the very early stages of the game but as you progress and develop your skills in ranged combat plus getting access to better weapons, you will learn that using firearms can be just as rewarding as melee combat, if not more rewarding.

all characters you meet in the long night, have a rich personality and a superb voice acting to back it up. The music really helps setting the mood, a great addition to the already beautiful environment, which is a dark L.A.

there are a few bugs and other quirks renaming after you have patched the game, sometimes you catch a short glimpse of NPCs hovering above the ground or when you get stuck in a door, or when you find yourself in a badly mapped area. but these bugs are easy to overlook because this rich game keeps you going just to see what happens next.
but without the unofficial patches this game would had been a flawed gem.

so the bottom line: bloddlines is a fantastic game with plenty of replay value and since the game is so old today its a real steal, so search your bargain bin for this classic game. Therefore I give this game a clean 9.0 but keep in mind that this review is based on an unofficial patch and if it hadn't been, you could remove a point or two.
