Countless hours spent on this one. This truly is one of those oldies-but-goldies! Need remake now!
Uprising did it first! And it did it just as well, if not better, than that weird red alert game (which was cool). Only lacking in graphics (per today) Uprising will still amaze even new and young players with its unique and highly immersive gameplay!
You actually control your wraith (tank-like vehicle) like you control any other character in a modern fps (wasd-ish, strafing, mouselook etc). You come equipped with so many weapons of so many kinds! (all upgradeable between missions) But if you are more of the strategic kind of person, you might want to spend your points upgrading other stuff instead, like the spawnable tanks, troopers, airsupport, or even the buildings you have in your bases! Nothing says *POW* like a small platoon of lvl 5 tanks smacking that enemy citadel to shreds, while you kick back up in the hills nearby and just enjoy the show.
Also, running over enemy dudes is fun. Its like red alert meets carmageddon in an epicly revolutionizing game, which still today, the world has not seen its like.
You could always try that weird red alert game (which' name still eludes me..), but personally I would prefer a game that does this super-multi-cross-genre in the best way made thus far in the history of the world. RTSFPSRPG ftw! :D
