It may seem a bit late to be writing a review for a game that came out over 10 years ago, but this game deserves it.

The other day I was bored, so I pulled out my old dreamcast, blew the dust off it (literally), and started playing my favorite game of the past. I have to say I was still very impressed with the game. The graphics were still decent by today's standards, the gameplay was about as solid as you could find anywhere at the time (even better than some today), and not to mention one of the best in game soundtracks I've ever come across if not the absolute best.

If only, the dreamcast had pioneered the two joystick controller, then this game would still get rotation of my playtime. Most of the problems with the game such as difficult and awkward control, and overly friendly (but necessary) auto assist when shooting arise from the controller. Since there is only one joystick for moving, you have to use the A and Y buttons for looking up and down which just plain sucks, and up on the d pad is alternate fire, which could not be more out of the way to press. But I don't blame the game for these defects, I blame the controller.

Anyway the levels are epic, the trash talk is amusing and just plain awesome, the characters are cool not to mention the intense character names. (how'd they come up with some of those). My only regret is that they give you radkin, drake, and von as teammates on the team games, god is von worthless. The guns are well designed with original spins on guns like the flak cannon as a shotgun type weapon. the only "gun" that bothers me is the impact hammer, it's worse than a last resort. Finally, the gameplay is well balanced with guns powerups, and level design. All around a perfect game for the time, and still can hold its own today.
