I wish I wasn't living seven years in the past...

You must play this game if you have a Dreamcast and didn't buy it initially. I'm not even a large consumer of shooters, but this should be a classic.

I know, the dreamcast is for all intents and purposes, extinct. however this game is one saving grace for it. I recently bought this game used, and wish that I could experience what it must've been like online. I love the campaign mode. I initially beat campaign on "Skilled" (Normal), and it increased in difficulty the longer you played it, and it seemed quite natural to me, and many of my friends like to play it when they come over. I'm now attempting to beat it on Inhuman (very hard, obviously) and while its challenging its not overly frustrating.

If you ever need to blow off some steam, but don't wanna hassle with the douche bags on halo or something else, the satisfaction of blowing an unsuspecting alien enemy to little bouncy chunks of ET with your handy Flak Cannon is like none other. The character selection is limited, but i don't see why it matters that much, considering there aren't any mirrors. The game is based around either killing as many times as you can to reach quota (on average about 25) before your opponents, called Deathmatch mode, holding certain parts of the maps under your team's control for set amounts of time, called Domination mode (like King of the Hill), or your average Capture the Flag. I always get the most fun out of Deathmatch, but the AI isn't quite up to snuff for team battles on Domination and Capture the Flag, and you end up doing most of the work yourself. There are three key things to master in this game, gun placements, health placements, and Upgrade/Armor placements, because it comes down to mainly manno-e-manno (w/e man on man) gun slinging, and whoever has the biggest or best-suited gun usually wins. For those of you who will play thank your gods for the auto-aim on the Dreamcast controller, because due to it's inadequacy, aiming straight onto your target would've been extremely hard. If you win your fight then you most likely need to run around stocking up on health and ammo, and maybe get an upgrade/armor, that is, if you know where it's hidden.
The last mode you unlock is like Deathmatch however it's only one super strong opponent that you must kill, a lot.

My only complaints are that jumping in first person doesn't quite sync with what actually happens, blinding rocket explosions will usually kill you but don't seem to disable opponents nearly as much, and the computer player names are kinda lame, but alll in all I wish I could've played this w/the online community back in the day!
