The package alone is worth your money for the games, but the overall presentation of the package is abysmal

It has been nearly 3 years since the last game in the Unreal series and theres is Unreal Tournament 3 comming up soon which no doubt will be a great game. However if you have missed a past unreal game, or even just don't own one of them anymore then you should consider picking up this package which contains all the current unreal games for only £15.

This indeed is a bargain priced package which perhaps is the best bargain buy you can possibly get currently. This package may seem odd only containing 4 unreal games, but nearly all of them include there expansions. All of the games hold up very good and even the original Unreal still runs pretty easily on today's machines.

There are however a great many drawbacks. The Original Unreal Tournament (UT99) is included as the GOTY (Game of the Year) edition but it seems to be missing a good few GOTY editions. This is mainly the game modes, while it does contain some of the mutators for them, the abillity to switch to them is pretty non existent. This is a shame since the mod community is so strong for the UT games.

But the biggest flaw in this package is probaly the presentation of the package it-self. When you install it, you only need one serial number for all of the games (Unlike over-protective EA Games The First Decade) and you can choose whcih games to install. However once installed you cannot choose to install thoose games you didon't select. Instead you have to uninstall the whole package and then install it again. This can be a right nuisance if a particular game is causing you problems.

Also, all of the extra mod tools included on the UT04 Disk (not installer) such as Maya and a texture editor, are non existent. Or perhaps they are in there somewhere but not easily accesable. Nerertheless this is a disapointed to the mod comunity (like myself) as they would have to purchase the individual tools or the original Unreal Tournament 2004 disk.

What could of been included which would be nice is some more driver support for the early Unreal games. This is especialy useful for thoose with uncommon graphics cards. But the games can still be easily run with a few tweaks like compatability mode. Higher resolution support would be pretty nice too if it was inlucded.

While this package presentation is flawed, it isn't all that bad. Included is a bonus DVD containing 70 minutes+ of all sorts of the best music from the Unreal games. This is very handy for choosing music if your makking a map. But it's also nice to use the music for other features but it seems Epic is risking copyright infringment.

Even with an abysmal package, the games are still alot of fun to play and hold up very well. Some of the visuals are still Jaw dropping even from the first games but the later games do look dated by now. There is tons and tons of replay value especialy with the very strong mod community. The Gameplay is as fun as it ever was and overall it is the best bargain buy you can possibly get.
