#I can remember like yesterday how unsure whether or not I should purchase it when Uncharted: Drakes Fortune was first released on the PS3 several years ago. PS3 in a slump as far as big name games, and I took a long shot and tried it out. Among the better moves I made in my life thus far. Naughty Dog blew me away with the stunning visual effects that were on display, from the jungle environments to the facial expressions and such great attention to the most minute of detail. They knocked it out of the park in my eyes and continue to do so with this amazing trilogy 3 game pack.
Now, for the first time ever, you can play all 3 Uncharted hits on the exact same disc. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, UC 2: Among Thieves, & UC3: Drake's Deception, all stellar and enjoyable experiences all alone. And if that weren't enough, the team at Naughty Dog also gave us a fine polish job & gave us a remaster collection, same thing they did with The last of us. I normally don't get too involved with many shooter games or games that are linear, non-open worlds but I made a special exception when I embarked on Nathan Drake's 1st treasure hunt.
I will talk very briefly about more specific gameplay mechanics that make this collection pack a must buy for any PS4 owner. First off, for $40-60, you cant get a better deal. These 3 games could sell for an easy 40-50 bucks a pop today on the PS3, and this amazing & convenient Nathan Drake Collection just brings the value up. So, Naughty Dog is not running a money scheme, this is a legitimate title. The already STELLAR graphic designs & artwork was somehow managed to look even better, and boy lemme tell ya, the PS4 looks like a dream with the breath-taking cutscenes from UC2: Among Thieves in the background. Each title in the series looks considerably better than their PS3 counterparts, and almost feel like they have had new breath of life given to them. If you have never played an Uncharted title or hell, a Naughty Dog title, prepare to be blown away..
All the same features such as game modes, controls, trophies, unlockables , weapons & treasures are all here but sadly their is not much new as far as gameplay. It would have been nice to be surprised with an extra little side DLC mission thrown in or any extra content in general. But, fear not, this still will likely not sway players from getting the most out of this blockbuster adventure platformer. The gameplay is fast, flashy, and so darn addictive you will have to force yourself to put controller down. It would be an easy feat to play through all 3 games in one sit down. Yeah, sadly, all 3 games had rather short story modes and can easily be finished in a few hours. The treasures give the player incentive to replay each game (if you missed any during theinitial play through). They are well hidden and scattered about and produce a challenging goal to find them all. The controls are a dream to operate as well, the most conveniently laid out button layout o PS4. Maybe a bit touchy sometimes, but the configuration lay out is simplistic in every way. Any player could easily adapt in no time. The story is amazing and can towards UC3 tend to get a little off track, however this is easily overlooked thanks to the awesome cast of characters and their prospective A+ voice actors providing them with humanity. Nathan Drake & Sully could not sound any more accurate & true to what they appear to sound like, and they feel like real live people. The dialogue is so brilliantly wrote and can be hilarious at times. Although, the reality of some of the situations you will see Drake laughing in would not be the reaction of anyone in the same situation in real life, its still easily overlooked by the fast and fluent gameplay this amazing saga brings to the table. And no better no reason to go buy this now with the upcoming sequel, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End coming real soon to PS4. Naughty Dog produced a console saving franchise with Nathan Drake, and after playing this you will see why!!
