Trigger Man is the worst game I have ever played. *** No Spoilers ***

User Rating: 2.5 | Trigger Man GC

A few months ago I picked up Trigger Man for the Nintendo Gamecube for four dollars at my local GameStop. It was brand new, and factory sealed, yet I still did not get my money's worth. This is the worst game I have ever played in my life, and I am going to tell you why…

Graphics : 3.0

What is sad about this is that the graphics in this game get the highest score in the review. Trigger Man looks like a late N64 title. The textures in this game are stunningly overused, There are no shadowing, or lighting effects. And there is only one appearance to each and every enemy you will face. (not kidding) The Trigger man himself looks acceptable, But for a game released in 2004 ...Gross…

Sound: 1.0

Sound? What Sound? The music in Trigger Man is awful, and starts and stops at random. All of the guns sound soft and un-impressive. there is no voice acting, there is no real atmosphere to this game whatsoever. You will only hear a slight grunt when you get shot. And a similar grunt when you kill an enemy. In short the sound effects in Trigger Man are a joke.

Gameplay: 1.0

This game really strikes out here. This game is designed to be a run and gun. But you are given just a silenced pistol with thirty rounds, and a combat knife, normally that would be fine but each of your enemy's will take 9 shots in the chest before dying. (Not kidding, I counted.) unless your good a head shots you will run out of ammo fast. There is only 1 ammo pick up spot in each level, so you will find yourself back tracking to the same spot over and over again. There are a handful of other guns you will come across in Trigger Man, but each have the same shockingly limited ammo supply, you'll barely notice any of them. But then again, why use a gun when you have your trusty blade, due to the lack of ammo you will be using you blade for about 90% the game. And for some reason it is the most powerful weapon in your arsenal, there is no real reason not to use it, even when you have ammo for you guns. And It's not like the half baked A.I. can shoot you either, their to busy running into walls, standing out in the open, and firing wildly in ever direction. It's sad running into a crowd of eight thugs armed with pistols and shotguns, and begin to slit throats one after another as they clumsily blast away. This game doesn't make you feel like an action hero, it just makes you fell like your playing with a turd.

Story: 3.0

I can't tell you much without giving away spoilers, but here is what it say's on the back of the box…

" Don Coladangelo always treated you like a son. Taught you the old ways and codes of the Family; do what you gotta do, but protect the innocent and never let the cops get wise. His rise to the top brought about an unofficial truce amongst the bickering crime families. But someone has designs on ruining that peace. Someone killed rival Don Montagano's son - now he blames Dom Coladangelo. Your mentor calls on you loyalty to thwart an attack on him by the Montaganos. It's now up to you to keep this little conflict from erupting into a full-scale street war."

The Mafia anti-hero game is such a cliché, and this game doesn't do the overused plotline justice. If you want to play a game with a similar plot, play something good like, the Hitman games, The Darkness, Mafia, or The Godfather, just to name a few.

Length: 5.0

Too long, especially so when you are back tracking for more ammunition, There are 8 levels to this game, some of them may take up to thirty minutes to complete. But who would want to beat this game anyway?

Final Score/Closing Thoughts: 2.5

Like I said in my opening comment, Trigger Man is the worst game I have ever played. I find It shocking that Crave Entertainment released such an awful title. My idea is that Trigger Man was about to be cancelled, but Crave thought that they could cash in on it, so they released the unfinished product. Well that my opinion on Trigger Man, In the end don't by this game unless your giving a gift to someone you hate. I'll close this review with a quote…

"If I had a choice between playing Trigger Man and getting kicked in the junk, I'd seriously have to think about it." - Alan Averill (Nintendo Power)
