The worst in the series so far, and being worse than Project 8 you know you are in for a dissapointing ride.

User Rating: 4.5 | Tony Hawk's Proving Ground PS2
I have been a fan of the Tony Hawk's series ever since they hit the PS2 market. They showed huge promise with the beginning of the Underground series and even though American Wasteland wasn't anything new to the series, it was still a decent game for the fans of the older ones.

Back to the topic, Proving Ground lacks all the fun and playability of the previous instalments and fails to add even the slightest bit of improvement over the older Tony Hawk games.

First thing you will notice is the lack of character customisation, as you only have a few facial and no body options. A bonus here is that there is a decent amount of branded and non branded clothing options at your disposal.

From the very start of the game you get the feeling of things being a bit all over the place, This game is clearly not aimed at a new fan of the game genre as the tutorial section of the game is few and far apart, and once you have gone through it you will have noticed that the game is almost complete.

New features such as Skate Checking, where you barge people down while skating towards them can be fun, but very short lived as there is basically only one goal that requires you to do this.

On to the positive, as always the games soundtrack is tops, there is a good selection of all genres, from rap to rock to metal, and with the option to deselect the genres that you dislike you can enjoy the game with your favourite game tracks playing in the background.
The Tony Hawk's series have obviously forgotten about the good old PS2 now and this game is the evidence.

For anyone that's new to the Tony Hawk's series of games, I'd suggest getting the older ones from the Underground Series, and if you feel from there that that wasn't enough than come and give Proving Ground a hit up.
Lets hope that they get the series back on track with later instalments
