The biggest disappointment of 2013: banal puzzles, poor narration, shooting overrides survival gameplay

User Rating: 3 | Tomb Raider (The Final Hours Edition) PC
This game really disappointed me. All you do is shoot shoot shoot, this is a shooter with little depth, no story, no sense narration, no survival, no challenge in the game. Puzzles are very easy and you get bored of them very soon. Multiplayer is awful and badly made. I was expecting more by this new Tomb Raider.

TR 2013 has lost the magic of classic Tomb Raider and it also does poor job following Uncharted standards, so there is nothing really special about it. Storyline is not very exciting, its something like far cry 3, that is not a beneficial comparison. Survival gameplay is a joke, i was expecting something like Snake Eater, instead you shoot here and there to get xp points.

As for graphics, the work is good. It has good textures and colours but the game is glitchy: shaking objects and diffused flickering need a patch to fix it up.

Sounds and music are fair but nothing special and they get repetitive very soon, I disliked Lara's frequent screams as they seem so artificial and unnatural.

To sum it up, this game could have been a masterpiece but it stands as a missed opportunity. Tomb Raider fans will be disappointed by the lack of surival gameplay, predictable sequences, abuse of shooting and action-oriented scenes. Those are the same mistakes done by EA in Mass Effect 2/3 and Dead Space 3. I don't suggest you to buy it.
